| Let's not forget Phil 'Statistic' Clarke, who offers such insights as "most tries are scored in the 20m nearest to the tryline". Tw@.

| Sky commentry is shocking and spoils the game somewhat IMO.
Tonights game was probs one of the worst commentries ever, and I'm sick of Stevo adding the word "Outfit" to everything, they are teams not gents tailors
Also you may say he was bumming you guys up but it's obvious that the Sky outfit voted for Rangi Chase to be last years MOS I can't believe for one minute that anyone who knows anything about rugby would think he's the best player in super league
Good win from leads and some good skills on show tonight even thow a few mistakes let Cas get on the score sheet

| Were we supposed to feel sorry for poor little 'home-spun' Castleford.
That would be the team with McGoldrick, Chase, Millington and Youngquest - more overseas players than Leeds on the night.

Chase was completely played out of the game. Leeds put him under pressure and he simply couldn't cope. Compared to McGuire he looked like an insignificant speck on my tv screen.

| Chase is a big fish in a little pond, he as never been that good tbh and i for one am glad he never came to leeds as he would have been a stickleback in a big lake or even maybe a sea or even an ocean, maybe the atlantic or the pacific, i dont know which is bigger but probably the bigger of the two!!

| All they do is debate decisions and rulings.
[iNearly every single[/i decision is debated.
The play is going on and you realise they are debating a ruling from 2/3 minutes ago.
Thehy've been the face of rugby league for nigh on 20 years, for the love of god phase them out.

I thought that.
They were really going for that angle weren't they?
Poor little home grown castelford, shoestring budge against the big rich 'city slickers' from leeds with all their star signings.
Who has the most home grown players?
Yup.

This is the biggest problem. Its annoying during your own game, but watching the Saturday game last night they found fault with just about every scoring play. Such focus on the negative is unnecessary, it must give the impression that we have a game of errors not a game of skill.

And no matter what the decision, you can be sure Clarke will have an opposing view to the other 3,4,5,6 or however many there are in the box at the time.
Probably with some statistics to back it up.

A few weeks back I watched Wales vs Scotland in the six nations. Jonathan Davies was commentating and and I couldn't believe my ears. He was so enthusiastic, positive and glowing about the game compared to his Rugby League commentary where every try seems to see him focus on the negative of awful defence etc.
Back to Sky, I've said it before but I think Eddie is the biggest problem. He's forgotten his role as a commetator and wants to give analysis and he really has no clue.

Totally agree.A change in commentary personnel is required, but in general be careful what you wish for, as the Rugby gods may decide to promote Phil 'stato' Clarke ,and his friend Tomkins. There are no budding Ray Warrens on the horizon that I can see

Spot on. He's becoming what Richard Keys thought he was to Sky football. Keys got well above his station and started to question people who were far better qualified than him to pass comment. Even after he left, he seemed to believe he was some sort of loss to the game of football and Sky would struggle to go on without him. Eddie Hemmings is in danger of suffering from the same sort of complacency after so long in the job.

| Anyone who doubts Hemmings is getting above his station need only see his intervention over Ryan Atkins try at Odsal yesterday. Like a dog with a bone and completely wrong in every aspect as far as I could make out.
Player's have legitimately run blocking/supporting lines behind a ball carrier for as long as the game as existed .... probably. To listen to Hemmings it sounded as if he expected Riley to stop supporting the break. He then tried to liken it to other completely different situations. Bizarre.

| Not wanting to jump to Hemmings defence, I still feel he has something to offer..the interview with Brian MacDermott straight after the World Club Challenge (on the red button) was excellent. He had our coach relaxed and chatty and i found some of the interview a real insight. Maybe he would be better suited to that sort of role. Commentary is always more interesting for me when it's done by a recently retired player or current coach..their experience of working on the front line is always more informative.

| IMO both Stevo and Hemmings should not be allowed anywhere near the gantry. Stevo should be told to stay in his museum in Huddersfield and Hemmings should go with him as a artefact.
I'd have Carney presenting the show with a ex player/coach from each of the two competing teams as guest summarisers. I'd give the match commentary to someone new, with Wells as a technical summariser plus a yet to be decided pitchside reporter.

| I think it would be good to get an Aussie in the commentary box (other than Mcrae) so we can get an insight from a different type of point of view. As long as they don't spend a majority of time harping on about how the NRL is better, but maybe highlighting the differences etc.

But that's typical of the Sky commentary - as has been said, they pick up on one thing and go on and on and on and on and on about it in a generally ill-informed way. Then another time the same thing happens and they either don't notice or come to a different conclusion.

I noticed that too, but Hall was too honest, and didn't make an issue of it. Others would have gone down in a heap. He probably should have grappled as this would at least have drawn the refs attention to it. It would still have been a try though IMO
