i am hoping to find the pub that did a roast beef dinner and a pint for £2.50 when we last went to widnes on a sunday.

mind you it should be better than the carling cup which i gave up to tickets for

I have never found anything friendly in Widnes.They have always been the most unpleasant scowling bunch in the game

Never had any problems at that pub on the corner. Shame they've got rid of the circular pool table. It was in interesting curio.

The only thing wrong with the place was that they seemed to ignore you in favour of the locals.

Widnes is a lovely place, full of hospitable welcoming people. Much like their pack in the late 80's / early 90's.
I'd go as far to say that the welcome recieved @ Widnes in the past was almost as enjoyable as that experienced at the Boulevard.

A group of us had the pleasure of changing ends at kick off once, the abuse we received was hilarious. We were warned at the corner not to walk through the "mad end", we did anyway, I think the locals loved it really.

Interesting!!!!, if the comparison to the Boulevard is anything to go by then I'm not expecting to be welcomed with open arms lol!
Sounds like it could be an eye opener then, only the Boulevard and craven park have I been met with bad attitudes, maybe this will make it 3!
What about The Crown and The Horse & Jockey between station and ground???

Just across the main car park (by the South Stand) there is a bowling club. We've always been made welcome in there, the beer is cheap and it's a minute walk to the away end (West Stand)

The last time I went to see Leeds at Widnes Bobby Goulding was our number 7.

Think the last time I went to Widnes David Creasser kicked a penalty in a 10-10 draw in the CC !

Why is it kicking off at 14:00 ?

Was that penalty awarded for throwing a players boot away?

I'm not sure DHM, all I remember is my Uncle saying I looked petrified as I never really trusted his kicking !

The Crown do good food, and both pubs are fine with good banter.You get good and bad in all sets of fans, so ignore what the other guy says about Widnes fans.We have suffered enough over the years.



But for cheaper beer go Whether Spoons in Town or the Widnes sports bar.Anyway wherever you go have a good day.

Must have been years ago when was in Superleague.I remember years ago Leeds fans causing trouble but that is the past.Anyway you are welcome with open arms matey.

I get upset with some Widnes fans mate so nothing to do with Widnes as a club.Good and bad everywhere, so i hope to see you with a good following next week.
