I once refused to hand over the keys to a customer because the customer was bladdered . He got violent and I 'defended myself'. I ended up in custody for the night . The new ladyfriend has, for some time now, insisted that we "share each others interests". To this point, "sharing each others interests" has involved little more than me being dragged around shopping malls and being required to watch signing check-out workers on Saturday night television - nothing that I can't handle. However, things are now taking a worrying turn.

The ladyfriend has insisted on sharing my interest for rugby and beer and has insisted that she accompanies me when we visit St Helens in a couple of weeks for what will be her first rugby game.

Women at the rugby - how do you recomment I deal with such a complex situation? With more alcohol?

My father and my uncle once took my mother and my aunt to a saturday afternoon rugby match at Headingley in the early 1950s, they stood in The Paddock and at one point my aunt, who could be rather excitable, yelled out something like "Ooooh did you see that, get off him you big bully" at which point virtually every man in the paddock turned to see where THE WOMAN was and someone told my dad and my uncle to remove their wives from the area with immediate effect, so they did.

Things don't always get better through time you know.

They got their own back though, the two women, in the early 1970s my brother and I were watching TV one Saturday evening after there had been a game at Headingley when The Cilla Black Show came on and in the outside broadcast bit of the show they went to speak to Eddie Waring who was standing on the pitch under the floodlights in a now deserted Headingley stadium, he was trying to explain to Cilla via the live link what a conversion was in rugby and to help him he introduced two assistants - my mother and my aunt who had been working behind the bar in the players bar when a production assistant had come in and asked if anyone wanted to be on The Cilla Black Show.

Unfortunately my mother and my aunt were of the habit of helping themselves to as much of Mr Myerscough's free champagne as possible and were what my mother coyly referred to as "tiddly", actually they were ratd, and as Eddie Waring set a ball up on a dug up bit of turf my Auntie Joyce stepped forward, still in high heels, to kick the ball.

She didn't kick it very far but her shoe flew off and went between the posts for 2 points at which point both her and my mother fell about in shrieks of laughter while Eddie Waring tried to sign off to Cilla - my brother and I sat on the floor at home with our mouths wide open, unbelieving what we had just seen, our mother p1ssed on prime time live TV.

I was so bladdered and insultive of the good players and people of Bradford that she never came to another match with me again.

Women are simple creatures, thats a fact I have the wedding photos to prove it.

Take her to a hull fc game, prepare her for this by using Danny's famous replication routine of having a negibour scream abuse at you, threaten you with violence and lob bottles at you.

I took the future Mrs Wheels to the Boxing day game this year. She spent 80% of the time on her iPhone, 10% moaning about the cold and 10% ing herself laughing after an awful Lee Smith conversion attempt hit me square in the face when I was updating Love Rugby League's livescores page.

After initially hating the game and how much time I devote to it, she will now watch the live Sky games, and even go as far as enjoying the Leeds games. I was in Spain on Friday and she was home alone, and she watched the Leeds game through her own choice. I was so proud I nearly shed a tear.

She still hasn't seen Leeds lose yet either. Cool story Bro.
