I have yet to find even a Saints fan who thinks that the challenge was illegal in any way.

Maybe Mr WIlson (who reads RLFans) can justify his strange comments on here ?

The bigger picture here is that Wilson's slant on the match does it no real justice - in reality, it was a cracking game, played at high speed and high skill level by the two best teams in the country by far, and as such was a great advert for the game in general. According to Wilson though, it seems that the most notable aspect of the game was the supposed violence, with Leeds obviously being the main perpetrators. Ironic really, given that Gilmour's OTT attack on Smith after being pushed out of the way, and Graham and co's pathetic reaction to Bailey fairly and squarely putting their overrated mate on his ar$e (not to mention Graham's "3rd man in cheapshot!"icon_wink.gif were by far the biggest examples of poor discipline throughout the match!

It's clueless reporting like this which does us and the game in general no favours whatsoever. If Wilson does indeed browse through these pages, I would love to hear his justification for reporting events in a manner which few, not even most Saints fans, seem to agree with.

He wouldn't try and justify it because then he'd have to out himself as the pathetic jealous wigan fan that he is.
Like you say his poxy report does this match or our sport any justice at all but should we be surprised???

I suppose you might have the stats for Mr Benthams matches for this season so far and last season for penalties home sides and away sides? Might be interesting. Though I suspect the majority of matches the home side wins the penalty count.

I was castigated on here a week or so ago for suggesting that Leeds got the benefit of a few calls v Wigan.

The same thing happened to you on Friday. Gilmour pulls Smiths hair, that's what started that fight and there was nothing wrong with either of Baileys challenges.

Whether we like it or not the home side almost always get the advantage of the close calls. (Unless your a Catalan side v Bulls)

Nobody in officialdom has said there was anything wrong with the Bailey shoulder (either on the night or since) so you didn't need to include it in your otherwise accurate observation to be fair.

No, but a lot of us think it should be because we would class it as a high tackle. However, the RFL doesn't think high tackles can be made with the shoulder, only the arm (although it could be said that the shoulder is part of the arm). The RFL deemed Fas to have ducked into the tackle, which kind of puts a different spin on a lot of high tackles.

From an opposition standpoint, Bailey makes Leeds look weak. You were losing and instead of skillfully fighting back (as so many in your team are capable of doing) you have Bailey acting like a d!ck. So the reports aren't full of stuff like just what a great game Burgess had (which he did) but instead the focus has been largely on Bailey's antics and the ensuing events. Is that what you really want?

Words quite simply fail me sometimes, honest to God they really do!! 3 days on, after this topic has been discussed from every angle imaginable, and it's been proved beyond any reasonable doubt that Bailey didn't do a thing wrong, we're still getting this.....
