Think Tetevano may be available the week before v Salford , think he’s missed 2 and next 3 in July. Not that it makes a massive difference

Absolutely no consistency in the spine over almost all of the last 5 years.
We just can’t get our best players on the pitch often enough.

| Just listened to Smith's presser, and he discussed the Newman appeal. He said that Leeds went to appeal originally because no player had previously been charged with the same offence - aggressive body language. They then (quite reasonably I think) went to appeal the 'frivolous' description of the original appeal. I've said all along, the 2-game ban is probably fair enough, but for the appeal to be ruled frivolous is ridiculous. Kangaroo court nonsense.

Been a major problem hasn’t it. Sezer out for 2 weeks by sounds of it. Will miss Wigan game. Austin should be back and Hardaker 50/50 for this weekend

| If there's no precedent to fall back on - other than people not being charged for similar actions - it's beyond any basic logic or reasonableness to say appealing is frivolous.
I know some of the people in this system are not dumb or of bad faith but the terms of reference must be out of kilter if that's what's happened.

| Let me start by saying Newman deserved a ban for the way it looked on TV that he was hurling abuse at the ref.
However, in the same weekend a Wakefield player was sin-binned for abusing the ref
So now we have a a case where the non sin-binned player is punished harder than the sin-binned player.
The only way that makes sense is if the sin bin counts as part of the punishment, in which case Bodene should have had a match removed as he was sin-binned.
You can't have it both ways

Seems ridiculous. If the ref genuinely thinks he was assaulted then why no red card at the time/ police involvement at any point since. The MRP are absolutely killing the game.

| That one I don't have an issue with. You can't aggressively push the referee.

But the fact remains he was clearly guilty of aggressive body language, so appealing that is clearly frivolous IMO other than on the grounds of a bit of whattaboutery/pedantry.
I'd genuinely be interested to see recent examples of players with equally aggressive body language towards refs that Leeds brought up in this defence, becuase Newman's was the worst example I can remember recently.

Was he sinbinned for behaving physically aggressively towards the ref (ie the aggressive body language charge) or verbal abuse - in my mind they are different charges.
It's not a case of having it two ways IMO, more a case of false equivalence.

But the entire appeals system is based around whataboutery - clubs come armed with examples of different gradings as part of their defences. Using it in a pejorative manner like you just did entirely misses the point.

Agree. My understanding is he was not banned for bad language it was aggressive body language.
I may be wrong here but I am led to believe he is the first player ever to be banned for aggressive body language. And of course no other player has been charged with this since.
He may have shown aggressive body language but given this was a first it’s understandable why Newman would appeal a 2 game ban.
I can think of a few players
Down the years who have hounded refs.
Newman serving 3 games for a new RL crime is the same punishment as Singo got for nailing Sironen.
I can’t make sense of what the committee are coming up with.

Will get a ban for that as well, not sure about it really but you just cannot do it and everybody knows that.
Knowles just had a late hit on the passer, if he doesn’t get 2-3 games for that then something is very wrong because that is exactly what others have been getting 2-3 games for. Not sure how the ref sees that gives a pen and doesn’t give a card

Worse than Prior’s, as he was throwing himself at the kicker, whereas knowles hit hit the passer late. Don’t be expecting anything but a caution to come of it though.
