I'm just back from Gateshead, where I saw my hero Nanci Griffith at The Sage. She was in fine from, as always. Sadly, the departure of James Hooker from her backing band means she didn't play 'Gulf Coast Highway'.

The Sage is a blooming impressive venue. Leeds is so desperate for somthing similar.

I was quite far back this time, sadly. That's what happens when you rely on a relative getting you a ticket as a present, rather than phoning up yourself at the first availbable opportunity to get a front row seat.

been listening to it all weekend, still cant understand how they do so well as they are truly woeful. Although they have more talent than most of these art rock bands, i still don't get them. its madchester by numbers

No you might like it. I just have never really been a fan of theirs. i get tired of the whole Manchester by numbers that goes around. And since Oasis have now split it seems to be getting pushed to the forefront. I suppose it all comes down to personal opinions, I just find it a bit samey
