The point i was trying to make is now you are told that winning does not matter and about 3 years down the line they are in leagues so winning does become an issue just look at what being 6th in super league has done to this forum

How do you feel about him saying that everyones opinion apart from hetheringtion and the players is irrelevant? I would be gutted if Maguire said that, if any club didnt have fans they wouldnt exist in Super League, fans opinions are extremely relevant IMO.

They should be irrelevant when it comes to team selection and tactics.

If fans seriously believe their opinions on individual players and strategy carry any weight within the dressing room they're only fooling themselves. You reckon Maguire picks his teams on the basis of whose name gets the largest cheer when it's read out over the tannoy?

Watching sporting clubs isn't like buying product - in most areas customers are king and suppliers will avoid upsetting them at all cost.

Not sure that is the case with sporting clubs - if you have a bad experience in restaurant you are unlikely to go back - yet we have a bad experience at Headingley every other week but keep returning?

Thing is now, Sports clubs aren't "Sports Clubs" any more. They are now there to impress stock exchanges and business partners rather than the average Tom, Dick & Harry who turn up every week

Not quite true. If Paul Caddick just wanted to make more money, there were better ways he could do it. The balance sheet matters, but there's still more to a sports club than that.

Which sports were you referring to? Not many soccerball clubs turn a profit. No idea what the state of the finances are in Speedway, Ice Hockey, Basketball etc, but I'd guess there are faster ways to make a million. RU is rich sugar-daddied to the eyeballs as well.
