Thank you everyone who commented on the pink shirt, just to confirm that all proceeds from the players shirts will be split between Cancer Research UK and Macmillan Cancer Support. In an effort to get the shirts on sale as quickly as possible and indicate that monies from the sale would be going to the good causes, initially it said that a percentage will be going to the charities. However, having got clarification from the board that they are happy for all money to go to the good causes we have now clarified this before any item has been sold. As we were unable to get clarification at the time, I felt that was a better way to go than say all of the money would go to the charities and then say it would be a percentage after people had placed their bids. A big thank you to everyone who has placed a bid so far.

Hope with that news that they go on to obtain some huge prices.

I used it on a JustGiving page last year and the 25% sticks in my mind for some reason but I think JustGiving make a levy of their own too so 28% may be the top line.

Reasons why it may not be Phil Daly? Well someone could have set up an alias a couple of years ago to laugh at DISA. I never said it wasn't Phil. I was merely suggesting that the statement wasn't necessarily 100% true, and may have been fairly hastily made to cover some mistakes made at the club.

Don't get me wrong the final actions by the club were good, but its been a pretty muddled journey to get there. I guess I find it hard to accept that when the club organises a major charity event including special shirts the thoughts of what to do with them after the event won't have cropped up

That I do agree with although I think that this is the first occasion that the club has used a one-off shirt for charitable purposes & so hadn't completely thought through all the ramifications.
We're all perfect with hindsight.

By that you mean whoever listed the shirts on ebay didn't/forgot to put the nominated charity and the % going to them, that's it.

IMO some people are getting their nickers in a twist over nowt.

Aww, and there I was thinking a business turning over millions a year was jeopardising its good name by fleecing cancer charities out of a few hundred quid to spend on .....................................something!

I can, hand on heart, guarantee that the user account Phil_Daly is indeed owned by one Phil Daly, Leeds Rugby's media and communications manager.

Having had cause to exchange some correspondence with Mr Daly last year I would agree that all appeared entirely genuine.




Sorry but initially there was no mention of any monies going to the two worthy causes at all.

Kudos to McField for absolutely making the correct call straight down the line from the word go IMO and to the club for reaching the same conclusion, however and whenever it came about, it did and that's the most important part.

The club either wanted to create a playing kit for these worthy causes and memory of one of Leeds' greatest servants and talents or they didn't. Once they took the decision to produce the shirt they accepted there would be a cost to bear. To then use the player issue kit to raise further funds for me is a no-brainer.

I too hope people will dig deep.
