I'm with you Danny if he played at a club that wins week in week he'd be outstanding.

I've always been a fan of Hock and accepted he's got his short comings. But the more I see him, the more I think he's just a flat-track bully. He's been in the first ream now for long enough to have grown up a little, but when ever the going gets tough he goes missing or the only time you notice him is when he drops the ball or gives a penalty away.

Well done to Ablett whom apart from the last 10 minutes had an outstanding game. Hopefully now he'll get a run in 2nd row. He REALLY NEEDS to improve his sideways movement in defense though.

Lee Smith, in his part time right centre position, over read what Wigan were doing and let Hock get on his outside. Poor play but Wigan had men over too.

Ablett did a good job tonight. I'm not too sure about him but he seems to be improving and must have been close to MOM. Kirke didn't start too impressively but has turned into a good second rower, and was playing well until that late high shot.

As for Youth Given a chance Saints and Hull are on a par there with Leeds, and Saints and Wigan winning there respective Academy finals last year?

Are you suggesting that if we win the assessment at the start of this thread is right? And that if we lose it isn't? You know that if we win, you'll trot out a load of stuff about consistentcy, one game not being enough to judge, stil early etc and if we lose you'll leg it home double quick to proclaim yourself the greatest

When was the last time a SL club put out 12 academy products (with all 12 being of the quality Leeds can put out, not just "throw them in because there is no-one else"icon_wink.gif in a match with only 1 foreign import (other than last week when Leeds did against Warrington)? Am both curious and sure it proves a point.

In my opinion, Saints and Hull academy system in terms of current first team squad (numbers, quality etc) isnt a patch on us.

As for Wigan' Academy going well, great, when do they get shipped out though? Unfortunately the club appear to have a habit of letting good young players leave the club who could have done a job for them, Wild, Brown, Robinson, Aspinwall, Briscoe to name a few. Fingers crossed the club has changed its ethos and turned a corner with the likes of Ainscough, Tomkins and O'Carroll etc.

It was proved last night though that Wigan have a long way to go to replicate Leeds, and 3 Grand Final rings on most of our academy players who have come through (Sinfield, McGuire, Burrow, Smith, Diskin, Bailey, JJB etc) shows the time and patience you must have to breed the winning mentality Leeds have developed.

Brian Noble said as much in his Sky interview last night, Leeds have a winning mentality throughout the club from top to bottom and Wigan are trying to emulate it. They will only do that though if they show patience with the youth so fingers crossed for them.

The reserve & U18 leagues in this country are a joke and one of the big reasons we're behind the Aussies at test level. I think Leeds recognise this and thats why they choose to either play their best youngsters in the first team or send them out on loan.
