| Very interesting to see Cuthbertson on the list, but I thought it was a mistake giving a 33-year old a 2 year deal in the first place. He and Garbutt both being 'available' suggests the front row is seen as the key problem area, and that replacements have been identified. Presumably a hooker replacement for Parcell as well (or at least a plan).
Whilst we can't do it with everyone, I'd suggest those who we really consider not good enough at all (Mullally, Golding, Walters) should be told in no uncertain terms that there's no future at Leeds, and that if they insist on seeing out their contracts they'll be on loan all season in the lower leagues. That should encourage them to look elsewhere. We've had far too many players hanging around the squad for years only getting games due to injuries and its a recipe for mediocirty. There should be a minimal number of players in the squad who are genuinely only around for backup, and even the younger ones should have a short shelf-life - either grab a place when given the chance or go elsewehere.

| Fallon - I haven't seen Peter Smith mention names in this context before? I'd be surprised if he hasn't heard them from the club, otherwise why not just say "a number of players'?
Anyway, as you say its all fun. Whilst not something you want to do every year, lots of movement or even rumours creates interest and excitement. Whilst the club was generally awful in the 80s, the pre-seasons included lots of talk about signings and departures and helped create the belief things would be different. After this season thats no bad thing.

| I can understand Cuthbo and Golding to some extent. Cuthbo is a shadow of the player he was. Parcell I would keep but I suppose he's taking a quota spot up and they must have a couple of better players lined up. Golding I like but it's a waste of cap because Jack Walker is the better player and having both unfortunately isn't possible in sal cap era. Garbutt is quality when fit but he's never fit and again he's overseas quota... interesting times. Not sure what this will do for morale though if some of these stay.

| Correct re morale - thats why those that the club really wants rid of cannot stay hanging around at Headingley. Those that stay should be fully part of the team, and with the right management they'll get over being deemed potentially surplus to requirements.

| The only thing that concerns me is it sounds like we’re happy to go round again with our aging and injury prone back row. Which for me was an even bigger problem than our front row.
Martin Taupau would be class. Crosby is a good replacement for Galloway. If we keep garbutt then along with Singleton, Peteru (who I actually thinks been pretty good from what we’ve seen), cuthbertson amd okedski we have good options there.
However, back row is much less impressive. I actually think we need 2 quality back rows to look strong.

All those names have been doing the rounds on Facebook for a few days.
I would suggest Sinny isn't the type to be giving reporters a load of off the record names but if you stay clear of players like Watkins and ward you've got a decent chance of hitting a player that will be available in the right circumstances.
Agree that all the talk of change is exciting but some do get a little carried away on no substance news, the furner thread been a case in point.

Honestly won’t be surprised
Golding > Young (Newcastle)
Parcell > Cunningham (London), Johnson
Mullally, Ormondroyd, Walters > Crosby, Holroyd, Mustapha, Smith, Dupree.
Garbutt > ????

If we're letting Parcel and Golding go id want better replacements than Lower league "projects".
We need another Prop as it stands IF Garbutt and Cuthbo go we'd need 2 and another BR.

Peteru was simply unlucky last year freakish injuries, think he will go very well next year, be surprised if Cuthbo goes was the best forward in super league in 2015 and not far off in 2017 and is rates highly as a potential coach. Garbutt maybe its simply the injuries and the club feel he will get injured more next season, maybe something more happening there.

what a player who is older than Golding, never played higher than league one. God i know some fans have it in for Golding and he is some peoples favorite scape goat especially since Walkers "i want to play fullback " tantrum, but to say a player who has never played at even championship level is a better option.

Walkers "I want to play fullback" tantrum? you do talk some nonsense with your agenda against the lad.
Walker never had a tantrum at any time. He simply said he wanted to concentrate on playing fullback as he felt it was the best opportunity for him to break into the first team. He knew he was better than Golding. Look how that turned out for him, he was spot on right, what a way to back yourself.

Garbutt> Taupau
Cuthbertson> Fensom
I'd like to keep Parcell and Garbutt but if we can manage to get Taupau I'd let them both go for him.

In the meantime Taupau hangs around on the off chance we can move on 2 contracted players? Sorry, don't see that happening.

| I like Walker at FB. If he can improve his physicality he's a great prospect - especially in a better quality team going forward. It might take another year or two but I'm genuinely positive about the future. The younger lads need real quality to bring them through into 1st grade and maximise their potential.

The issue with Walker was that Leeds wanted to offer him a part time contract - he believed he was worth a full time contract as did a number of SL clubs. Leeds gave in.

Not sure who you heard that one from Sal, but it isn't true. He was offered a full time contract from Leeds on the first offer. It was a poor offer, but full time all the same. Others offered bigger contracts. However, he wanted to be at Leeds, and just wanted the opportunity to back himself for first team, which he did, and a revised offer was made by Leeds and accepted.

I suggest you listen to last week's full 80 - Craig Harrison quite clearly outlined what happen to Jack Walker - I am not saying I have any further info other than that - I might be old but my hearing is still pretty good.

| I'm struggling to understand why we'd be looking to offload Parcell unless the player himself wants to leave.
It's very unlikely we'd be able to secure a replacement of similar quality.
In the modern game the Hooker is one of the most important positions, if he leaves strengthening other positions will not improve us.

He was nowhere near as effective in his second season as he had been in his first - maybe through injury - the fact is he looked pretty average in 2018
