| That's a breakfast for a hungry lad . A croissant though ? I could manage the rest of the main course , but a croissant is just too .. well .. ermmm.. French . The espresso kinda spoils it too . Why can't people just drink coffee and call it coffee ?

This is proper espresso, you're only supposed to use the self service machine with the small cups because its concentrated caffeine in a shot - I use a mug and have four or five shots in each with no water added - lovely stuff, like legal highs.

Take a very big stiff knife and make sure it's really sharp.
Put a packet of blue Elastoplasts on one side for swift access if needed.
Lay the pineapple on its side and slice off the top leafy end and the bottom (which is the non-leafy end, it's called "the bottom" because it's at the opposite end from the top, even though when it's laid on its side the top is actually a side or an end and the bottom is the other side or end).
Stand the pineapple on its now very stable base (which was the side a moment ago but you have now stood it up again, so the bottom which was the side is now the bottom again and the top which became the opposite side when the bottom was a side, is now the top again) and cut the bumps off the sides (i.e. not the bottom, which it is now standing on or the top, which is at the other end from the bottom) with careful curving downward strokes making sure you keep to the contours of the pineapple because it doesn't have perfectly perpendicular sides.
Between cuts of the sides, revolve the pineapple so that you don't peel the same bit twice.
Eventually you will end up back where you started ... i.e. the pineapple will have revolved 360 degrees (I don't mean going back to laying it on its side again).
Et voila, a peeled pineapple.
Next week we show you how to slice it.

Cheers!
Cut two of them up, no plasters were needed! Covered in Pineapple debris though....

Give it to my dog to chew on for a bit.
Distract him when he's got the shell off and nick it off him.

He prefers jalapeno and peperami, and the cardboard box they come in.
Although at the moment he's preferring the hamster in its perspex ball as its coots across the floor, that hamster has a death wish teasing him like that, German Shepherd Dog vs Hamster, its barely a mouthfull there wouldn't even be any fluff left.

| A hamster in a plastic ball is no challenge for a German Shepherd dog . When I was nowt but a lad my dog Sabar ate my tortiose . He also used to bring home well chewed hedgehogs . Used to cost a fortune in vets' bills getting his snout mended .

| Things have moved on since the days when dogs would eat wildlife, the hamster did escape from its plastic ball last night but Jackson the Dog just sat at the other end of the hallway staring at it, they sat staring at each other for about five minutes, one wondering why it was out of its cage the other wondering if getting out of its cage was such a good idea after all.
Jackson the Dog prefers Red Hot 'n Spicy Pizza, freshly baked buns (24 of them cooling on a tray) and a complete Betty Croker Chocolate fudge cake - all of these things snaffled off the kitchen worktop and eaten completely including the boxes or bun cases and for the cake he removed the plate it was standing on and placed it next to his own food bowl which completely fooled the youngest daughter into thinking that one of us had put it there for him.
Dogs Trust Dogs - its like allowing a newly released prisoner into your home.

| We have a rescue dog . Have had it with us for around six months now , and it is only just beginning to trust us . When she first arrived she was very aggressive when approached . She guarded everything she had quite ferociously . She wouldn't let you in the same room as her if she was eating . Her problems were caused by her previous keepers treatment of her , and the bigger dogs that she lived with bullying her and taking things off her . Now she is starting to play . She lets you tease her without trying to rip your fingers off , and she will come and sit with you .
She does have odd behaviour such as taking one biscuit at a time out of her bowl and walking into another room to either eat it or hide it . We have been noting where her favourite hiding places are . Under Mrs BR's pillow is her favourite place to stash biscuits . If she sees you watching her while she is hiding things she waits until you look away then moves that particular stash elsewhere .
BTW . She is a Lhasa Apso . We think her age is around 4 years old .
My question for today is about walking the dog .
Mrs BR always puts a hoodie type coat on the dog when she takes it out . The dog has got used to wearing it , and is reluctant to leave the house without it on . My problem is that the dog wants it on when I take it for a walk . No problem with it wearing a coat , but it is bright pink and has sparkly bits on it that say DIVA .
I don't mind taking it out if I am accompanied by my 5 year old daughter , but am I within my rights to refuse to walk the dog alone in daylight hours ?

Its just wrong, coats on dogs.
We provided a foster home for a Lhasa Apso for a month or so last year, for such a small dog they are incredibly dominant in the house and appear to think they are seven foot tall and built like a prize winning bull.
Anyway - coats on dogs, specifically coats on Lhasa Apso's - you do know they were originally bred by monks in Tibet don't you, specifically to keep the monks feet and hands warm during the cold winter months, true story that does tend to steer you towards the fact that the breed already has a very nice coat anyway, thank you very much, and doesn't really need a Diva pink sparkly coat.
I think it should be you that wears it.
Anyway,
I have my own problems with Jackson the German Shepherd Dog - he won't go out for walks if only one person is taking him, absolutely refuses to go beyond the end of the drive if there is only one of you with him, with two people he's fine but on your own you have no chance even with hot dog sausage bribes.
The psychologist at The Dogs Trust reckons its down to one of two things - he was found abandoned on the streets and possibly was left by one person, or as a shepherd dog he is not happy unless the whole family pack is together.
Que Sera, two years old (approx) and 40 kilos, I think he's stopped growing now, I think...

Should be exciting times. I might have arranged a gig for them at Farsley Celtic for a half time show.

| On dog coats
The other day in Enfield me and the lovely yet occasionally dizzy wife were walking past a pet shop, when in the shop window of said pet shop was a big sign saying DOG COATS FOR SALE INSIDE to which the wife has said "ooorrr lets go in and look at the little =#0000FFGoats"
I said "what goats darling, how do you know there are goats in there"
To which she said "look it says on the sign, dog goats"
It was a badly drawn letter c but it had me in stiches at the time when she realised.

| Just do it, take chopped up hot dog sausages in a little bag, the dogs love them and get them as training treats, our cupboard is full of the really, really cheap Asda hot dogs, it must look like we're real cheapskates but they are for the dog, honest.
And say hello to Taz the GSD for me.

| Mr Field . I feel I could do this voluntary dog walking thing . I like to go for walks and rides on the canal towpath . A bit of 'me time' . The little rat-dog we currently have with us is more than happy with a walk round the block . Our previous canine companion Finley was more suited to me in that he was happy to walk for miles with the occasioal pause for refreshment .
I wasn't aware of schemes where you could volunteer to help out at rescue centres . Would you have any suggestions or recomendations of anywhere that I could go help out ? I have previous experience of walking strange dogs . I used to help out at a kennels owned by my uncle . I even walked at least one of the incarnations of Schnorbitz (sp?)
