) is not the only one. TBH I didn't really understand it till a few days ago and I went back and had a detailed look at it. I think most fans have not thought about it too much yet but I do think that when fans start to get there head around it, I suspect they might not like it! The main bug for me is that if you finish in the top four it is highly possible that the first week fixtures will be repeated two weeks later in the Qual Semi Finals. I also do not like that one side can decide the fate of the other three sides, and which games the fans get to watch, at this stage.

I am honestly not sure if Sky have got it either, but maybe they have and think that the prospect of repeat fixtures is a good one?

Anyhow, you are right about now being the time to step up and show week-on-week improvement for any side looking to get to QSF never-mind the GF, and that goes for the top side two sides as well. I have not really seen you play in recent weeks but of course you poor June was much publicised!

The best thing about us at the moment is that we seem to be able to win and show that desire to win no matter how ugly the rugby. However, we need to improve the disipline, which is shocking, and get a better scramble in defence, we are not tight enough when it really matters for me and certainly not in kick defence!

The bottom line is, I'd much rather have the Scousers win the hubcap again, only for them to then take a fall (either in the play-offs or the Grand Final, I'm not bothered which).

Having Steve Ganson involved probably cost St Helens that decision. I thought Demetriou got his bumper up to hand off legitimately but it ended up being more of a forearm than hand. Grix's put down could have been more convincing as well but it was good enough.



Saints are really missing Paul Anderson.

They have but they were injured, even Lomax who presumably would have taken over. Funny how Hemmings kept saying none from five for Wellens when it was obviously none from six in the end. Wakefield deserved the result just for being there after last Friday.

I wonder if Mr Cunningham will get a call to attend the Disciplinary Committee after his punch felled Stosic at the play the ball prior to the one that led to Saints final try?
Re the Demetriou incident I thought he started off to hand off Wellens with the palm of his hand but the momentum (that word again) of both players towards each other meant that JD's elbow finished up in Wellen's throat.
Hard one to call but I'm pleased it went the way it did.

I think Demetriou just went for the hand-off, it was not with any intent or malice and I think the reply made it look worse than it was as well. Correct call by Ganson, this is Rugby not netball. I think Wellens was crying like a little girl about it to Uncle Albert more because Demetriou owned him in that play!

Of course I am rather concerned that Ganson just took it upon himself to look and Uncle Albert did not ask him to look! I thought he could not do that and Sky did confirm that Uncle Albert did not ask him to look? We need some clarification from Cummins here.

Also, Uncle Albert was just rubbish, missing at least two blatant offside... I think he is getting worse not better!

Either way I think the video referee is and should be able to look at everything from the start of the play (be it a tap restart, scrum or PTB) that leads to the try - no try decision.
