| There's having a drink and getting completely blottowed , oh well I'm sure he enjoyed himself he missed the game and I'd expect him to be locked up in a Manchester police cell tonight because after punching my dads friend twice he followed it up by punching a steward then having a pop at some coppers aswell
Great showing by both teams tonight

| it happens with most clubs but beer bottles and cans was requested not to be taken to the seats, a few decided to hide theirs.
we had some teenagers near us that was worse for wear and one threw up smashing eh!!
but what really is inexcusable was one Leeds fan was taken away clutching his chest half way through the first half and his fellow supporters sang its time to leave and then promptly sang for him to f off
hope the bloke gets to see a reply of the game as was a classic Leeds game

Is your dads friend okay sir?
As someone just mentioned drinks were not allowed in the seating area yet everyone that had had a bit too much in the day seemed to have bottles. The steward in our area clearly was not doing his job.
If the Leeds fans I was sat behind come on here (I was in the Warrington hoody with glasses..) hope you guys got home okay. Was a pleasure to sit near you! Enjoy the win we will have it next time please!

| Yeh he was fine the guy was too drunk to cause too much harm but still uncalled for and he split the stewards lip open which then provoked a more urgent reaction from his colleagues after that other than this was an enjoyable experience all round and made up for the long trip down to wembley we made lol

| The worst incident just before the players came on involved a wire fan in an away shirt. I don't know what started it but even if he started it he didn't deserve what happened to him. The other people involved had no club colours but when wire scored none cheered but they could still have not been leeds fans. It was disgusting though what they did. Utter scum and if they are picked out and are season ticket holders for any club they deserve a lifetime ban.
This is why we've decided to buy the more expensive tickets from now on, all the people around us were a pleasure and made a fuss of my 4 year old nephew at his second game.

| It really is luck of the draw.
I was in £31 seats and surrounded by some lovely people today who were thoroughly entertained by my 4 year old.
In the past we haven't been so lucky.

| Saw the fight and the large Wire fan took a lot of punishment. He actually looked so drunk he didn't even know what was happening.
It was disgusting behaviour and I hope the authorities can find who it was and ban them.

| I missed the GF tonight, but was at Wembley when there was similar trouble, and reading this thread, it appears its the same old problem, DRINK!!!.
After the cup final, a posted to letter to league express about it and said sale of alcohol should be stopped at all the finals.
I know some wont like the idea and most will know when to stop, I myself have enjoyed a pint through the 1st half at league games and when I finish that, I dont go for another.
But with cup finals and grand finals, they should be occasions for the fans to enjoy, but sadly they are been ruined by morons who have been drinking for around 8 hours non stop.

I went through the entire day without a drop of alcohol today, and don't feel like I've missed out. Sadly this is a concept lost on some.

| It always goes on. Being a Saints fan I've been to most of our GF losses (and a few wins).
Quite often the trouble will be between fans of the same club. Last year was a better year, (even though we lost) as it was the first year for a while where there was little trouble near us. As a fairly young father, I would not consider taking my 2 little ones to a GF, even if we where favourite to win. Maybe if I could fork out for more expensive seats for all of us, but I can't say whether it's any better on the sides.
I've stood in many places in many gorunds, even in the middle of the Leeds South stand with my Saints shirt on. But it has always been the worst at finals for drunk louts. We often say well they are not real supporters but we never really know. They could be regular season ticket holders for all we know.
The RFL should take names and address' though of those arrested or removed by stewards and then report them to their clubs to deal with. If they did it at a home game, then the RFL would be fining that club for their fans behaviour. The fact it's a final run by the RFL, they seam to ignore this.

| Do you think that the RFL had a bit of blame in this though?
We had a bunch of Leeds fans near us in the West 2nd tier - mostly well behaved and just supporting their team but a few who spent large parts of the game stood up and gesticulating to the Wire fans behind him. He was very lucky that he didn't find any trouble, although when someone did have a go at him he reported it to the stewards and had him removed!
Meanwhile our community club tickets were in the Leeds end and one of our lads got beat up before kick off and ended up in hospital.
The RFL allocated ends so surely common sense would say that they gave the tickets out for the right end! That said, the one fight we did see was between a group of lads in the same group!

| I had plenty to drink yesterday - so did most of the people with us. We enjoyed the game and had a great day with not a sniff of trouble.
Sadly there will always be one or two that have a few drinks and think they're 10 men.
You will never be able to ban drinking at games as most of it happens before folk get into the ground. I don't know what the answer is, better trained stewards maybe or at least more vigilant but banning drinking completely is not the answer.
Anyone caught being a dick should be banned from ALL future sporting events. Have a combined register that crosses all major sports may help, although not infallible.

Sorry to hear about your lad getting hurt, that's appalling.
The allocation of ends though. How were the RFL supposed to know who'd be there in the final. Would you have had more or less drama with Saints fans?

That fight was sickening. We were sat just a couple of blocks away from it and whatever that Wire fan did surely didn't warrant that! There was a lad in a pink t-shirt that gave him about 10 uppercuts whilst he was being held and somehow managed to stay in the ground which was appalling.
The one thing I always note about the trouble at GF's is a lot of the people involved aren't wearing colours. The Wire fan was but the other group involved could have been supporters of anyone.

| I'm honestly not surprised. Some people act like complete ignorant..well, I won't use the words that go through my mind, but there were a fair few I'd like to have beaten, had I not been a good person. Yesterday directly in front of myself and my 10 year old sister was a man (Leeds fan) smoking without a care in the world, and blowing the smoke back towards us. She has asthma and shouldn't be around it in such close proximity. We complained to a steward but the man saw him coming, died out the cigarette and stood on it, then lied to the steward. The same man also carried cans of beer in a plastic bag and was drinking it with a friend. The lids from our Pepsi bottles were taken yet he managed to smuggle beer? Bull.
Second, as Hall scored that last try someone above us through a half empty bottle of beer - you know, that same alcohol that you can't have in the seating area? - and my sister and I ended up with beer on us, and we're glad the actual bottle didn't hit us.
Third, a man a few rows in front of us decided to spend the majority of the pre-game entertainment and first half stood up, despite others asking him to sit down, making it impossible for my young sister to see, even when she stood us for a while, which obviously got tiring and an annoyance to those behind her.
Completely selfish.... ruin the gameday experience, they should all be banned. I'm all for drinking in moderation, banning alcohol isn't the answer, but stewarding should be a lot tougher. How is it possible to smuggle in cans of alcohol? How are people bringing bottles up to the seating area? The tops are taken off so it's not like they can be hidden in a bag to sneak past the stewards. I'm not surprised fights are breaking out when people are being so ignorant to others - there are those out there who will do anything for a fight, and there are people who will push all their buttons to make it happen. All ridiculous. And I didn't have a sniff of trouble from Wire fans.

| I can't remember anything in 04 but since 05 I've been advancing up the ticket price scales in an attempt to just get in a relatively subdued part of the Leeds half of the stadium. There are just too many heads around on both sides, regardless of who plays. That year when a Saints fan nearly ended up going over the railing from the upper tier was probably the worst.
There is also always a fair bit of excess verbal jousting around the chip shop at at the top of the road leading up to the tram station - this was particularly so when the Leeds-Saints rivalry was at its peak. That fell away in the later years and our relationship with the Wire seems relatively benign. I dread to think though what would happen if our South Stand drunken féckwits ever encountered Wigan's flag waving hooligan wannabes at a GF.

| I agree that the community tickets should not be in either Kop end, those ends should be allocated to the fans of the two competing teams. Community club tickets should be down the sides, many of those attending on these tickets are juniors and placing them down the sides would keep them out of harms way while also creating a neutral zone between the fans of the clubs involved in the final.
Where we were seated there was a large amount of trouble between Leeds fans, at least 6 totaly unrelated seperate incidents. They started a good 30 minutes before kick off and periodically broke out throughout the night, it was disgraceful.
If we arrange a club trip again we'll be buying the most expensive tickets, that will definitely mean we take less people but we won't expose the young lads to such a volatile atmosphere and put them in harms way ever again.
