All I can find is that if you are not a sponsor you cant win the prize and you are playing for fun?

Why are the two knock-out games in week 1 noted as games 5 and 6?

My understanding (based only on participating in last year's comp) was that non-sponsors bowed out at this stage.
In 2010 sponsorships were still available throughout the campaign (as is the case this year also) and a couple were sold late in the season when people found themselves in with a chance of making the play-offs.

What are the tie breakers in knockout predicting, can't say i've noticed before? how did you split those who finished equal on points in the regular season? |

That thread last season sought to bring light where there was previously only darkness.
My position will have only changed (if indeed it has) in light of the detail unearthed by the numerous 'freedom of information' requests.
I do recall though trying to persuade Craig into taking out a sponsorship (as the rules seemingly allowed him to do so) when it became apparent he was going to finish well inside the top 8. He declined to do so for the same reason you have given above and credit to you both for that. IIRC he was therefore unable to enter the play-offs and in that sense the interpretation of the 'rules' hasn't altered this season.

You're sadly not alone either. I havn't gone public for a while but as this appears a critical point in the season, I've got four wrong scores highlighted this week which includes yours and one other who will now contest in the play-offs.
The four are:
JMT (should be 7 not 5)
LFCPatriotRhino (7 not 6)
Pet Rhino (6 not 4)
rhinochris (8 not 6)
I'm sure I don't need to point out the difference between qualifying top 4 and instead being incorrectly placed 5 to 8.

The rules haven't changed. The person with the most points wins each play-off match but given it's more than possible that both players will predict the same amount of games right and neither will get the margins exactly correct, how else would you suggest calculating a winner? |

He has changed the rules by only allowing sponsors to be in the play offs.
So the teams in 3rd and 8th have been kicked out of the comp |
