I don't think anyone is expecting it to happen any time soon or "getting carried away", it's just a general poll for interest really! Will be interesting to see what people think!
Personally, I'm of the "all standing" persuasion! Really don't like sitting at a match! Although I think that's very unlikely to happen IMO as most (if not all??) modern stadiums are all seated these days.

| Quote ="adam_rhinos"At the moment, the South Stand is the biggest capacity terrace in the UK and Europe, maybe the world, but correct me if i am wrong about that one.
This is a accolade on its own, so why not keep it this way and even make it a bigger terrace.
Take Liverpool FC for example, on their new ground that they are making, they are incorperating the Kop stand back into the new stadium, just making it a larger stand, because they know what the stand means to the fans.
Why can we not do this?'"
There's no way it's the biggest in Europe. Some German football clubs have stands that can be all seater for European games, but are easily converted to standing for normal league games. Somewhere like Dortmund will have a far bigger terrace than us.
EDIT - Dortmunds terrace actually holds [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westfalenstadion24,454[/url

| Why not have a 2 tier South Stand, with the Standing capacity remaining the same as before, and a Top tier for the UNION toff's to sit in.

| I agree with Homer. Maybe keep the standing capacity the same, but have a tier of boxes and then maybe seats above that. There doesnt need to be loads of seats, even if the second tiered seating was between 10 or 20 rows back.

Yeah I'd settle for that. As long as the standing capacity would be the same. Not sure the people in the boxes would be too happy though, right above the band etc!!

| To be honest, I reckon the club have already decided what the stand will look like, basically a clone of the Carnegie.
That's fine by me, as I quite fancy a seat in the new stand, but would also like it to keep its standing area.

Boxes would go to the back of the seating so it wouldnt be too bad for them. If they make it the same height as the Carnegie then there would be plenty of room for a good amount of seats above.

Was just thinking that myself but I suppose it depends on the size of the SS terrace. Also there would be a lot of blocked off light caused due to the filling in of the gap.

| The fact that the North Stand development has been put on hold will probably dictate what the club will be doing, regardless of what the outcome of any vote is.
At the end of the day, corporate customers are the ones that pay the bills and it will be their needs that are taken into consideration above those of us that stand in steerage.

Thats the reason why the SS side is so bad for the 1st couple of months. The stand blocks the sun to the grass.

| I think it would seriously lose the atmosphere if there was no standing at all.
Firstly, you can't chant as loud sitting down (I personally felt a bit of a prat trying to belt out "Marching on..." whilst sat down!)
Then there's the whole problem of people behind you getting annoyed when you stand up, so you feel bad for them and try and stay sat down as much as possible for them, which then ruins your enjoyment of the game cos you're conscious as to them behind.
Then there's the whole "People need to get passed to the toilet/bar etc". Which grates enough on me as it is! Would drive me crackers if I had to stand up and squeeze in while the game was on!
Also, if they're spending millions on a new stand, surely it makes sense to increase the overall stadium capacity in doing it?? Which would mean retaining the existing SS capacity and adding seats AS WELL, and not instead of.

It was bad enough at Scumland last October, back and forth, back & forth, If it was not for the end result, well, what can you say, can not hold their water.

| Rugby is for fans not corporates. yes i go to the rugby to watch the game & but i also go to be with your friends stood shoulder to shoulder singing for the lads! it is things like seats that have killed football so why let it rewin our game. take wigan. i use to love going to central park on the terrace behind the goal but because of the the JJB & the seats i really dont like going to wigan!
IMO 100% terrace!
