- CVs to be 2/3 pages max - Personal profile at the top, education, skils matrix then career history (latest first) - Bullet points are easiest to follow
- No fancy formatting, simple is best
- Consistent font types, sizes and colours
- Spelling and Grammar important so read it through thoroughly
- Don't lie, because it WILL catch you out at I/V

I have a really good template I was given by an executive recruitment consultant many years ago.
It works really good in paper form as it's 4 A4 pages that you copy out on one A3 sheet and fold in half. Hardly ever failed to get me through the door.

Anyone wants to PM me they can have it, I've just updated mine funnily enough.

Another thing is think about making small changes for each individual application - sometimes pays off.

Your CV should be slightly different for every job you apply for. You should always tailor it to the requirements of the specific job you are applying for, matching it to the key requirements in the job advert or the job spec if you have one.
