I’d agree there. He has been a little slow to show his potential at open age (maybe not helped by being played out of position but that’s standard for many young players).

There is a cracking footballer in there somewhere though and if he gets his physicality right for open age he can be very good.

He is still very young.

Got to remember how young Cam still is. I wouldnt say hes been slow toshow his potential at all. Just been coming on steadily and nicely but never really had a run in a more natural position which hes now getting.

Theres been times when Cam hasnt helped his own develipment too. Hes now doing a great job but will have ups and downs as hes still young.

I've been quite indifferent towards Smith and still am a little but he has started the season well and us certainly worth a new contract. Especially given he is now showing a degree of form.

I'd be tempted to offer him two years and then review it at the end of this season if he carries on performing like he has been.

Agreed, I think we probably forget how young some of the first team squad is, Walker is still very young at 20, Harry Newman literally just Turned 20, Cam Smith is 21, Oledski is 21, Ash Handley is hardly old just turned 24, Callum McLelland is 20, then we obviously have the players coming through.

If they can all kick on the future does look bright.

Bennett would be great for us, but at his age I doubt he'd come over now.

I disagree. Whilst he's undoubtedly a great, his best days are behind him. You see the brand of rugby Souths and GB play and it isn't entertaining. I feel that our next coach needs to be someone to get the team playing entertaining rugby. We've had a good few years of drab stale rugby and I think the club would need to make a statement to move away from that

Couldn’t agree more. We were heading for relegation till he took over. The players looked like they couldn’t care less. We might not be the finished article but he’s done a decent job so far with the players at his disposal.
