| McKenna made the same move as Delaney.
There's a big difference between Merrin and Golding. Merrin would get offers from the NRL today. Apart from lower championship teams who'd look at Golding? Even more importantly who would want him enough to buy out his contract?

I liked McKenna too, good player.
I suppose if Golding really wanted to play in reserves or DR for the next couple of years he could, and Leeds would have to honour the contract. He isn't without ability and he does have a great attitude, I just can't see how he comes back into the Leeds side with Walker here and still more coming through now (arguably of a higher quality than we've seen for years).
I do think there would be a Championship side interested in him in due course, it's just a case of salary there versus what he's on now, and whether that gives him a route to career development and putting himself in the shop window again.
Leeds don't have too much to lose by keeping Golding around - one other difference between him and Merrin is probably around 10x salary. Lolohea is more of an issue if we're not playing him.

Golding is a Leeds lad and wanted to stay and fight for a place. He will be a decent Super League full back wherever he ends up.

| Maybe a move to Wakey for Golding as cover for Johnstone? Not sure he'd want to be stuck out on the wing but the offer of more chance of game time might be one he can't turn down.

| I believe Goldings on a very decent contract and that is itself the problem. No other club is willing to offer him anything close to it and he's playing hardball with Leeds, willing to play out the remainder of the contract at Fev or wherever. You cant blame the lad.

Not at all. If he really doesn't figure then it might be worth the club subsidising his contract elsewhere, but a couple of injuries and he could be back in the side this year.

£65K a year to play Championship RL isn't a bad deal for another 3 years. But where will he go then?

| It makes no difference he has a young family and if you say he is on £65k contract then why would he move. While at Leeds on this contract he is playing at FEV and also getting his coaching badges. He is also coaching Stanningley ARLC. Overall if he is earning £65kpa its not bad, he playing rugby, he's learning and why would he or anyone walk out on this sort of contract. Good for the lad. We are the biggest mug club in SL. We never learn no wonder we are where we are.

| I don't blame him one bit. I'd sit out my 65K contract and play Dual Reg. Pity the current Leeds management team don't rate him.

| I think we've seen as much as Albert will bring to the party last night. Why waste an overseas spot on a championship reject?
I don't disagree that we need bulk in the front row, but why get rid of Mullally (not that I was a fan of his), to bring someone arguably worse...

| Albert doesn’t take up a quota spot as he was released under administration at Widnes. He would if we were to resign him after his current contract ends.
I don’t understand why he’s here either.

Because we're short on fit forwards, and he's the best available *at this moment in time*.
That doesn't justify us giving him a 2-year deal though... Can't wait for the response on here when that gets announced!

| I think when he goes for a run he's already decided he's offloading no matter the circumstances. Going to be incredibly risky but I suppose at least it's something new.

| I don't generally like the ofton used statement on here that 'he's not a Leeds standard player' however in this case its apt. There is taking a punt then there is taking the mick. Not so much an issue on a domestic player but and overseas, not great imo but its not my club.

Wellington Albert doesn’t count as an overseas player, as he was released by Widnes going into administration.
Albert is a bit raw but could turn into a decent prospect, he’s unlikely to be on much money and we are struggling for props.

Thats what I mean though, much as I detest some of the Leeds snobbery displayed by certain posters on here the cheapness of a player shouldn't be an issue for the games richest club. I'm being fair here when I say you can't have it both ways, you either are the games premier club or your not. I'm very proud to say its Wakefields job to turn rocks into diamonds, thats what we have to do on ourbudget - Leeds shouldn't be imo.
If we had taken Albert on as a project I'd have got it but much as I hate to say it Leeds have aimed very low with this one, Then again Wigan signed Sammutt so it seems to be a trend.

True but irrelevent if you can't afford to reach it - you do realise I'm being complimetary to Leeds in a back handed kind of way. You can do better.
