The Hoax comment really made me laugh... of course it is numpties... we just want to know how he bloody did it!

I am still going with the thought that somehow he knew the lottery numbers slightly in advance of the showing going out though and that is the key... but happy to be proved wrong!

I did wonder if the BBC film this in front of a 'live' audience and that is was filmed slightly earlier than it was broadcast and he was legally able to get his hand on the result numbers before hand because of a right to know/freedom of information type thing, but not show the 'Result' until after the BBC had.. therefore making it look like a prediction!

I saw him live in quite a relatively small audience at the Building Awards at the Hilton on Park Lane and he was just fantastic his ability to read and influence people and appear therefore to read their minds is just amazing!

My two favourite stunts of his was the Heist, which was awesome and also the Trick and Treat series where he taught that elderly women to 'read' people and almost win that poker tournament without really teaching her to play the game... cool!

The best way of responding to those who say it's a hoax is simply.

"No s[ih[/iit Sherlock!"

For it to be a camera trick or like you suggest a delayed transmission would be too easy for Derren, We know he's a very smart person and would not risk his reputation by doing something cheap like that. If it is I will be a bit disappointed.

Search that popular video sharing website for 'derren brown's lottery trick, possible solution'. Clearly shows it is nothing more than a camera trick.

He claimed he got 24 people to randomly pick numbers, averaged them and got the 6 numbers (although we never saw the calculations on screen and he didn't reveal the numbers to the pickers until they saw them live o TV).

The camera trick is probably the most likely explanation but we'll never know for sure.

I thought option three was more likely. You know, the illegal one which he said he definately did not do, in no way, no siree.

I doubt he would be stupid enough not be joking about option 3.

Apparently his production team were very scared on Wednesday night as they were scared it would go hugely wrong

Derren always projects a sense of being worried that things will go wrong though. They never do.

Well atleast someone agrees that the camera trickery theory i mentioned wasnt as far fetched, yet someone posts on here that when he was writing the numbers down it was actually a magnetic pad...right ok

He might as well said that aliens visited him and told him the lottery numbers - it would be as likely an explanation as the one he gave on screen.

This trick should have been called:-

“How to get 5 numbers onto 5 balls in 27 seconds without anyone noticing”

I dont mind watching his shows but the horse racing one he did a while back was pointless.

He is an amazing showman. I have seen him live twice, and last time a frisbee landed on my knee. I really didnt want to go on stage but felt i must. He did the 20 question thing.Three questions was all he used, is it an animal or mineral? bigger than a piano? then something else daft, and then said it. I think i had written Lemon.

There's no mathematical way to 'predict' lottery numbers - every outcome is as probable as another. Tis a trick pure and simple, whether involving camera trickery or otherwise. What I like about Brown is the fact that he shows how he does some of his tricks. I suspect a well-trained 'magician' could work out how he does a lot, but he also does have an incredible memory and ability to influence people in surprising ways. I just like watching stuff like that for some reason.

If no one believes he would be stupid enough, then that just makes it even more likely that he;d get away it.
