| For all the critics of him on here I thought Tindall stood up to be counted last night. Never dropped a ball or leave a huge gap. Took the ball in - din't make many metres but it took some of the workload of the forwards.

Was going to say this. I had serious concerns with him playing due to no Newman, Handley and Martin being out but he really stood up under pressure. Yes no big runs or breaks but Catalan just kept kicking in his direction and he kept taking it safely and getting us out of there. Big credit to him.

I'm not surprised given: A) your record against us(Is it 47 wins in a row now?) and B) We'll likely be missing Fusitua, Handley, Newman, Oledzki, Gannon, Martin, Holroyd and Thompson. Let's face it, if Saints can't see us off you're not the team I thought you were. The huge bright side for Leeds fans is that Smith keeps getting the wins despite all this, which seems miraculous when you consider the last few years. Re your point on the quality of the game - I thought it started quite high and detiorated as the home side dragged it towards the gutter. Not really our fault though.

Of course you do mate. No pressure on Leeds whatsoever, and we all know what can happen when they’re told they’ve no chance.
I’m not too sure why everyone seems to be wanting to avoid Salford also? Had a good season no doubt, but Leeds beat them fairly convincingly a few weeks back, and we were pretty poor also.

Correct. Lost control of the game early on and never got it back.
Catalans always lose their cool when things start to go against them and become penalty machines.
Great win for you guys. See you next week or the week after.

100% agree that the game was dragged down by Catalans (who have been an undisciplined rabble most times we’ve played them in the past couple of years) and that Leeds have had a brilliant end to the season.
I just struggle to see them going any further but this is sport - you never know.

| The media (Sky) have tried to turn Tomkins into a respectable player over the years but he showed his true colours last night.
Appalling behaviour from Catalans IMO - coach McNamara evidently still likes to resort to 1990s style thuggery, Tomkins, various players, and even the supporters throwing missiles and multiple shots of kids giving v signs on and off the pitch (I guess they are just copying the antics of Tomkins).
Seriously don't get McNamara's longevity as a coach after he ran the Bulls into the ground with crap signings... But that's for another discussion. One CC and GF appearance isn't exactly a great return for the years he's spent at top clubs in SL.

| Was great to see McIlorum losing it last night against Bentley.
Takes me back to Magic 8 years ago when in almost identical circumstances he lost it with Peacock.
In a great bit of housery, sky decided to show that game straight after last night, top effort lads. Great viewing.

He was much better and stood up to the pressure, though he needs more direction with his carries, I'm not sure what he was trying to do with those early in the game.

| Think Tindall just needs a bit of patience in his carries, he seems to be looking for the wow play every carry which leads to him losing meters quite often, he needs to settle down and understand that a 9/10 meter carry with quick play the ball is still a good outcome.
I like him though, have since scholarship, hope he can keep improving.

Bags of effort but still very much a work in progress. What happened to him when Myler broke down the left in the first half? Presume Pearce probably had him in a choke-hold.

You're welcome on this forum mate, because you speak sense.
I don't see that Saints will fear Leeds at all.
But I do think Wigan would rather play Hudds than us.
Given those we potentially have missing next week I fear it will be one game too many.
But yes, this is sport and anything can happen.
One thing we do now finally have is a quality coach who has tactical nouse.

| Be very interesting to see what the outputs re MRP are from this game. Rohan Smith very calmly increased the focus on decisions last week by highlighting the process followed by Leeds which forced the hurried detailed statement then released by the RFL. Tomkins then commenting on Sky regardong the Martin ban validity followed by Smith highlighti ng Tomkins harassing referres which played out on the night puts golden boy firmly in the spotlight. Sky played this down and deliberately did not reference the diving/gamesmanship aspect. Rohan then in his press conferece calmly said he thought game was fine no dodgy tackles except dudson headbutt and Tomkins clearly dived. This gives the RFL a couple of options ban Dudson and probably Pearce and ignore everyting else including actiins of the crowd and move on. Not right but probably best option for Leeds. Or throw the book at Catalan and Leeds will cop some collateral damage could end up 5 bans for cats and 2 dor Leeds. If this happens Tomkins becomes the story and jeopordises his sky contract and taints him for the world cup. It will be interesting to see what happens.

It was called out in commentary by Baz and Wells. Don't recall Clarke even mentioning it, though I may have missed it as I tend to tune out when he gets going.

Yes a ban for Bentley would be very damaging, that would mean no Martin, Gannon or Bentley which leaves us really short in the back row. I think Catalans should face fairly serious consequences for that kind of action. Not just the players but the club. You simply cannot have a game which is meant to attract families and children with supporters throwing missiles and abusing refs and visiting players. I know every club has people slagging off refs but last night got a bit ridiculous. Even more so when it’s one of the only sporting events on and it’s meant to be some of the top teams in the competition playing.

| Good win. I'd rather face Sts than Wigan next, not because I think we can beat them but rather because I don't think we can. They are a step up in class from Catalans and we haven't really got close to beating them even under Smith. If we could beat them we would be in great shape for a GF. More likely it will show that until we strengthen in some positions we are still some way off.
