Is anyone else just wishing for this game to be over and us to return a clean bill of health?

I don't buy into all the stories of the pitch causing injuries but their is clearly some concern amongst the players and coaches

The only one wearing tights is Ian Kirke

I noticed that although he did his job well today - that being giving JP a rest.

I was babysitting again today so didn't get to the game . I watched the Grand Final again . So much easier after so much time has passed , though there are still a few moments that had me out of my seat . Was it Shenton that broke his arm ? Whoever it was had some kind of tight things down to his wrists . Them things are dangerous I tell thee .

I also took the time to compare THAT Catalans try on Friday night against the 'wide to west' one . Cats win . Totally overshadowed the WTW one .

The try i believe you are thinking of was against wakefield at belle vue. We scored after the hooter from a kick through by buderus which was collected Danny Mags who got giddy and fell over. the wakefield winger, petersen (sideshow bob) was stood over Mags and all he had to do was put a hand on him and the game would be over, for some reason he didnt and Mags passed the ball to Scott Donald, who placed it down.

Us leeds fans went crazy and I hugged a bloke I'd never met. It was only the best non-final moment I have ever experienced

I had a walk on the I-Pitch after the game, and can understand players getting cut up on it.

It's essentially just a posh version of what you'd get at Goals soccer, it is very rough to skim your hand across.

The one I remember are scoring 3 tries in the last 6 minutes against Wakefield to win after the hooter (Scott Donald going over and John Kear abusing his clipboard).

I postulated on the Saints board that the definition in the Hemmings RL Dictionary of "Doing a Saints" should be changed from "scoring an improbable try in the last second to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat" to "blowing a match winning lead when your opponents are on the floor".

iirc it was McGuire who put the kick through, I think Ablett regathered it and passed it to McGuire. Definately Scott Donald who scored though.

Wasn't Eddie Hemmings almost crying at the point Scott Donald scored, something along the lines of "Oh this is cruel on Wakefield" etc etc ?

I was talking to Rhinoms before the game and jokingly said, "Just watch. Kirke will be the only player to run out in tights"... low and behold

Peacock monster drive on the 4th, Buderus acting half pass to Jones-Buchanan, on to McGuire who chipped forward, collected on the second bounce by Ablett who made ground and threw the ball back to centre field for Buderus to send the pass back out wide to McGuire. The next bit was pure genius, the stumble brought Wakefield's only defender in the vicinity (Brough) towards the grounded McGuire only for him to calmly send Donald over in the corner.

Without first hitting the deck Brough may have made the tackle or prevented the pass to the winger etc but by hitting the deck McGuire committed Brough and ensured Donald of a walk-in.

Having just watched it on the famous video sharing site, I can confirm you are indeed correct.

Just a minor clear up. The tights weren't allow due to complaints (well Mathers) they are allowed at any ground in RL. Salford just got in touch with the RFL to clarify and were told as long as they were the proper sports tights their was nothing wrong with it.

Had to laugh hearing Kirke was the only one wearing, but heh it's the individuals choice!

Seem's your lads enjoyed the pitch and with the RFU approving Sarries for using the same surface at their new digs I wouldn't be shocked to see one appear at Headingly in the not too distant future.

I was interested to see the quite high number of Widnes U20 players who were wearing tights on Sunday.

Well I guess they have to play on it every other week

It is interesting as a few 20's seem to wear them but not one first team player has yet and some no-longer wearing sleeves either. As I say all down to the individuals though... maybe 20's feel less daft in them
