I don’t know JJB or how he works within the club and with Agar.
He has the job as does Agar, and I am going to give them more than one game i to the season before writing them off

| Whilst the coaching staff isnt what i would want i can 100% guarantee if we had Trent Robinson, who i personally rate as the best coach currently, players like Dwyer, Sutcliffe etc would still be garbage. He just wouldnt pick them.
Were in a hole by the looks at the moment but its early days.

Good coaches get the most our of poorer players. Powell made a damn good job of it at Cas to be fair. Our coaches couldn't do what he did at Cas with the same players.
We are in a hole of our own making, and don't learn. It only prolongs the wait to get out more.
We should have appointed Griffin last year, no ifs or buts, but gone for it. With the model we had with youngsters coming through, and the need to change the ethos, and get rid of some, he was the perfect match for that. It is exactly what he has done in his last couple of jobs.

Yes and could you see Leeds really employing either Radford or Chester - no if you were to be really honest - it would be a first but give it a try?

The difference is Robinson would had not signed the likes of Evans, Corey Johnson and Holroyd would be much nearer the first team product than they are now - the structures would be set - especially the attack, the players would be fitter, the likes of Lui and Hurrell would be at least a stone lighter if not two etc

Wasn't Furner attempting to do the same but Sinfield nipped it in the bud?
We should have kept Furner imo and allowed him to do what he felt he needed to and we may be looking at a total different scenario right now.
Griffin is a good shout but it seems clear they wanted a puppet after the first guy tried to burn out the dead wood.

There seems to be a bit of revisionism creeping in with regards to Furner IMO, we were bloody awful with him as coach, I saw absolutely nothing from him that showed he was a good coach, we were OK in attack but utterly woeful in every other department, yes we may have been carrying some deadwood, but even in this thread people have said a good coach can get players to play above their capabilities, Furner had them playing below their standard, and, it’s not as if Sinfield hasn’t made a whole Load of changes to the playing squad.
People may well think Agar is not up to the job and its a perfectly valid opinion but lets not rose tint Furner’s time here, he was bloody awful

| Not saying we weren't awful under Furner but the squad of players he had at his disposal was pretty awful and it's clear he was having to play players he didn't want or was going to get rid of at the first opportunity and they were not putting it in for him.
He also wasn't afforded the backing that Agar got getting the likes of Lui, Ava and Martin in as the season wore on.I stand by we would have been fine had he been given full reign and backed 100 percent it was disgusting how it went down, i said that at the time and still feel that way.

We put in some excellent performances start of last season, and were unlucky at the time. As the poison in the changing room started to have effect, it got worse and worse. That is the issue Christopher you are just refusing to acknowledge.
It might have been Furner still would have failed, but it doesn’t change the situation that the management backed the wrong horse at the time to see. With the same backing Agar got, we certainly would have been in a better shape.

I’m not refusing to acknowledge anything, we did put in some ok performances with him in charge, think you’re over selling it with excellent, I can think of Salford away and maybe Saints away (which we threw away), the rest were rubbish, we didn’t win many of them either due to a total inability to defend and a very good ability to capitulate as soon as we were scored against, a decent coach doesn’t have poison in the changing room so early in the role.
Lets not pretend Furner was some superstar coach done badly by the club

Your first paragraph isn’t describing a good coach in my opinion, as Ve said it’s often stated on here that very good coaches get a team playing above the sum of their parts, Furner got them playing below that.
I don’t whether what went down was disgusting or not as A don’t know what went down, all I know is the team Looked utterly shot by the time he left, not sure bringing in a few more players would have made any difference with Furner in charge.

| I think the fact they appointed a yes man and a cheap option in Agar instead of replacing Furner with a top class proven coach suggests strongly that the rumours of player power were true.

| I'm not sure who in that squad would lead a "player power" revolt tbh. I've no idea what went on but for me, in the last year (possibly longer) there's absolutely no one I wouldn't have dropped/being disappointed to see shipped out. You'd expect the older players to be the ones wanting to run the show and there arent a great deal of them that have come out of our last couple of seasons with much credit.
Anyhow, lets be honest, we'll never know the full story thought I suspect the fact that Furner stuck around and was probably paid off in the end tells you we probably didnt cover ourselves in glory.

| Agar talked about moving on from former glories and creating their own identity. Even if they believe in that philosophy having Sinfield, JJB, Peacock, Walker and Burrow around the place everyday isnt going to allow that to happen. Agar seems knowledgable but all the inspiration of a teapot. Hate to say it but sinfield looks and sounds lost. Can see another tearing up of the plan mid to late season again.

Agreed. What struck as weird was we had won 3/6 when he was sacked.
However, it’s all done now. Since then though we have been largely treading water. Ryan Carr appeared to have a very positive impact and certainly did at Fev. I don’t get the current structure having Webster giving part time impact and not personally convinced what fresh perspective Walker and JJB can currently add.
My personal view is that our head coach budget is still being allocated to pay Furner hence we have got agar in on the cheap and messing about with some part time input.

By backing Furner that's something we will never know what we do know is Agar kept us up. Whether he can take us further that we will see. I Ddo have my doubts but that is more to do with the poor squad rather than Agar coaching ability.
