Unfortunately we dont have a local brew in leigh,though i must say the taste for real ale is slowly starting to grow.The thomas burke,White lion and the goose have real ale on.Personally i drink Guinness or most anything thats dark which seems to be limited

GO to 'White Lion' they have 'Otter King' what a lovely tipple.

Park inn hotel is part of the Leigh sports village they usually do a deal on match days for food ect Morrisons Supermarket is across the road from the stadium and have a cheap cafe... The Legends bar close to the ticket office do cheap food pasties chips ect ect and Leigh East Club is two mins away cheap beer and pies ect and rest friendly ..Hope to see plenty of you there sampling the culture of LEYTH

Nice post and although I know JC and his advice is very good I personally would park in the town. It's not very far to walk and you could have another one for the road after the game. Hope you lot enjoy your visit and have a safe journey.

As jc and Leyther Matt says the Goose is were a lot off our message board go before games, a good atmosphere and a few real ales on as well, you will all be made welcome.

I reckon our lads will be doing the White Lion-Tommy Burke-Goose real ale run.

We know all about Zak, from his start at Featherstone - he's a class act. As a result of our well-documented financial problems, we've cut our wage bill almost in half, this season, and have been giving game time to some cracking good young players. They will benefit enormously from the experience on Friday and may cause you one or two surprises.

Any idea how sales have gone at your end?

Also what are the Loiners plans who can make it in the daytime?

We should be there by 5-30/6ish just planning on staying near the ground for some grub and a pint or 2.

Depends what you want then mate.

The Robin Hood has free parking and you can walk to the stadium in 5-10 mins and has great food too. Cumberland on tap.

For atmosphere you're better off in the town centre, Goose is where the Leigh fans will be at that time, but good food round there is scarce.

The Harvester Pub is good for food located on the Retail Park (nr Sainsburys). The Stadium is then a 10/15 minute walk (past Leigh East Club) and you can park there too.

Food, drink and parking advise. What more could we ask for?

I know the nearest train station is about 3/4 miles away but is anybody making the trip across on the rattler?

How about some train advice while i'm working ont' trains? (I also wouldn't recommend the Harvester!)

If you do decide to travel by train you need to get to either Atherton or Newton Le Willows.

Atherton-Victoria is at 22:43
Newton-Victoria is 22:48

Then from Victoria to Leeds on the 23:13 arriving at 00:55

You can get there 20 mins earlier if you make the 22:29 train at Newton.

Or Catch the 22:05hrs Number 26 First Manchester Bus from Leigh Bus Station to Manchester Shrudehill Bus Station arr 22:59hrs / walk or tram/bus to Manchester Piccadilly for the 23:21 or 23:38hrs First Trans Pennine Express Trains Manchester Piccadilly to Leeds arriving at 00:31hrs and 00:35hrs respectively.
In fact if you come via that same way ask for a Manchester Plus Bus with your train fare from Leeds to Manchester and for £3.50 on top of your train fare (less if you have a railcard) you have a Bus Ticket for the entire Greater Manchester area.

Will be finishing early and getting a flyer to avoid the madness around Leeds at teatime. If I can get my graft done we'll be heading off early afternoon to stop off at a pub up in the pennines for some decent Yorkshire grub

before we continue past border control into Red Rose county. Hopefully we'll be around the M60 before the carnage starts and holed up in Leigh around 4ish. A few of you have kindly suggested a few decent alehouses so after a toby around we'll get settled in one of those. It's a big game for Leigh so there should be a decent atmosphere in town and it's my first visit to Leigh since the late 70's early 80's when we beat you at hilton Park in a challenge cup tie. Should be a good day out and I'm looking forward to it.
