I do not swear, stumble, start trouble, get loud, throw-up or generally aggravate the people around me – this is not the perception I have of my drunken self, it is genuinely how I am, but I am drunk.

I am not embarrassed about my ‘drunken behaviour’ as there is nothing to be embarrassed about, in fact if you were to pass me you would never know – but I assure you I would be drunk.

If this concept of inebriation (that means being drunk) is alien to you then you are very naïve. Not all people in a state of intoxication act like you do when you are ed.

I think the question for both you and LS16 is, do you find it difficult to attend a game of RL for 1 hour and 20 mins without being drunk?

Maybe its a lack of confidence that drink counter balances?

Until about 2004 I very rarely drank more than a pint before games but then then I started to have 2-3 before.

By 2005/6 I regularly got drunk before games. I loved it and thought I was the life and soul of everyone's party.

In 2007 I pretty much stopped drinking prior to matches again and found I appreciated the games far more.

Admittedly I no longer drink at all (total of a pint of lager in the last 10 and a bit months) and I've developed the self righteous arrogance about drinking normally associated with ex-smokers (I'm one of them too) concerning smoking; but the thing I did notice was that other people who got p[iis[/ised before games were embarrassing.

I strongly suspect that what I thought was the life and soul of the party may well have seemed borish, loud, offensive and occasionally aggressive to other people.

No, I think you follow your team no matter what style of play they have or whatever form they are in. You dont have a god damm right to have exciting rugby played for you, I would be quite happy to have boring rugby, if it gets points and wins games, so be it

TBH with you Rob I’ve been on a bit of a heath kick since I hit 40 and managed to knock about 2.5 stone off in the last 7 weeks, this includes a ‘no drinking’ policy which means I’ve been sober in the last few games I’ve been to and it’s not really altered my enjoyment of the games at all.

I seem to enjoy the games just as much.

What I can't understand with this is if I went to a place where i did not like the activities of other people who liked a drink and on top of that was witnessing a sub standard product put in front of me for which I pay good money why would I keep going? I know people are entitled to opinions but hey if its upsetting that much try something else less stressful. BTW sober at the time of posting but cant guarantee that next time

Your allowed getting ed at RL games if people dont like that thats up to them but they should not try to prevent other people enjoying the rugby in there style.

I've nothing against people having a drink. In many respects I've nothing against their being drunk. My point is just that your self perception when drunk might not match other people's perception of you.

All those - you included - who suggest Smith was a tactical genius and McClennan is rah rah man explain this - compare the records for 2007 and 2008 with virtually identical squads - McClennan beats Smith in every category - how can that be?
