Rumours are he has already given word to Castleford that he will play out his last year there, once his Leeds contract ends.

Fair enough if that happens, Cas is his home town is it not? he has given us great service and we will need to start the re build soon enough anyway but like i said, i think he still has plenty to offer for the next few years yet so wouldn't be against him signing a new deal.

| Isn't Burrow a very highly rated coach within the club? I'd be surprised if we let him go to be honest. Although I guess could explain the Brierley rumours

| Out of our current half backs I personally think rob still has the most to offer. Mags would be the one I would be least sad to see leave, that said probably miss his play more than I realise once he has gone

| So Hetherington says "we are more interested in securing our own players to long term contracts. We are not looking at players from other clubs."
Way to sell season tickets, Gary.

pretty good point this, unless hes been waiting for ZH to return to sign the contract? wants to announce that as well to help sell season tickets? or (hopefully) we have a prop signed up for 2015.

| Quote ="Sal Paradise"On the errors another poster has also pointed that out - perhaps it is you that is in denial?
The point I am trying to make is - if Leeds are going to compete with the likes of Wigan they need players that are at least as good. Wigan - quite clearly for whatever reason - don't want Mossop. Leeds would then be signing a player considered not good enough by one of its most serious competitors.
If Leeds don't sign him Mossop will end up at a Castleford or Widnes - he doesn't appear very inclined to return to Australia - so his options could be quite limited'"
And you seemed so sure of yourself Sal.
Both Wigan and Leeds wanted him and made offers - he chose Wigan.

That's a good question. Wigan had first refusal. I'm not sure how that works, but since Lee wanted to come back to Wigan and they wanted him then there wasn't a problem.
It is rumoured that Leeds offered more money than Wigan, so if his wish was to go over to Leeds then I'm sure these clauses can be bought out.
It happens in football all the time doesn't it. Usually the player get his own way in these things.

I would have been happy with the signing of Mossop but he wouldn't be a player i would like to think we had busted the Bank for.
It sounds like he was always going back to Wigan as things stand anyway so its a nothing story and our link to him just rumours. it'sno surprise we seem to be getting linked to everyone right now who may be available.

| Doesn't come as too much of a surprise that a Wigan through & through lad would choose to return over a move to one of their biggest rivals. Have to admit it didn't sit right with me that he'd ever WANT to play for Leeds so I'm not too bothered. Surely Wigan have prop overload now? We'll take Flower instead

| So basically we have had a week of speculation and in reality we won't be signing anyone.
We have 3 young props who will hopefully step up to the plate.
Might not be good enough for this year but hopefully set us up for the future. If the front line props stay healthy we should be ok but if cuthbertson turns out to be a Ben cross and peacock gets injured could be a long season

It was only a rumour, probably started by Mossop's agent(?).

| Anyone else getting a bit peeved off now? Its a shambles.
I think its absolutely ridiculous that Leeds have let two players leave in a department where we need to be strengthening. All was well and good last week as we all presumed, naively, that Leeds had at least one replacement nailed on.
Mossop looks like he is on his way to Wigan. Burgess rumour has died of death. Brierley, well GH says we're not in for him. Leigh say we are in for him but have tapped him up without going through the club. Not good either way you look at it,
I said it last week that its ridiculous that Leeds are doing business at this time of year. Only the whipping boys scramble around for players at this time of the year. Fair enough if replacements have put pen to paper before others have been let go, but clearly this is not the case. We're turning into a joke of a club and unless we can scoop two forwards we can really can kiss goodbye to the playoffs next year. We will be playing Bradford, Leigh, Featherstone and London in a battle to stay in SL!!

Does it seem odd to say that only the whipping boys do business at this time of year when also complaining that 1: Wigan have just signed Mossop and we haven't, and 2: the crux of your complaint in the previous paragraphs seems to be that Leeds haven't done any business?
So should we be scrambling around to sign players, or would that make us whipping boys.
It might be ridiculous to be doing business at this time of year. But we haven't, have we? Apart from releasing two players at the back end of their careers that more than half of posters wanted let go ages ago.

| Nice of McShane to stay sober long enough to find the keyboard.
See his career has gone on an upward spiral since leaving McDermott's supposedly detrimental coaching.

| I am glad we have started clearing the decks. If we don't sign anyone of a decent standard i will be quite happy to see the young lads get more game time as this should open the door for them.Rather that than panic sign someone like a shot Fui Fui Moi Moi or another past it cast off.

| Personally not too bothered. Signings at this time of year tend to be desperation signings unless it's an unexpected event. Not too disheartened by losing out on mossop. Clearing the dead wood of Bailey and Kirke is good news we have 3 young props who now have the chance to step up and personally sends the right sort of message to these lads. Giving them a shot rather than replacing with average props, and with Peacock and Kylie going next year clearing cap space for some quality signings

By letting 2 senior players leave on the eve of pre season I'd class that as doing business! Late business, whipping boy business. By the heavy rumours both in the UK and Aus about Leeds been after Mossop in the immediate aftermath of Kirkes departure I again would say that is us doing business and thus far failing. GH and BM must have felt the need to strengthen otherwise our name wouldn't have been so heavily around Mossop would it? We won't go into Leeds failing over Burgess as those rumours were only light. Agreed Kirke and Bailey are at the back end of their careers and weren't exactly fans favourites but without a doubt we're a weaker side without them. We must have one of the lightest packs in SL.
Wigan signing Mossop is a different scenario.

| It wasn't planned for Bailey to leave. It happened due to reasons other than "Clearing the Dead Wood" and maybe why we were looking at Mossop to come in.
