Top response IMHO
To quote one stat (69% completion) in total isolation is just plain daft in my view and further more highlights the "negativity" point very clearly.
Printer should keep on keeping on

What's daft about it?
He said it in relation to a comment of improving.
To put another way. If we repeated a 69% completion rate against the top sides, do you think we would win?
Nothing daft about it at all. Only daft thing is to ignore an actual fact.

| Strange how, in Salford's last 5 matches, three of which we won and two which we lost by small margins, it was the opposition who were poor and not Salford who played well. Doesn't matter though. We can live with that.

Its just daft so are IF`s and BUT`s ...................IN MY VIEW
If you dont agree then thats OK OK?
To answer your question then YES it might be OK and we might win it would depend on the outcome of lots of other stats............ hence it being a daft question. IMHO

No, it's a daft comment.
Do you really think Leeds will come up with a 69% completion rate against the top sides when it matters?

It would be daft to suggest they intentionally came up with a 69% completion rate, which you just did.

Yeah they did it on purpose You know exactly what I meant.
Feel free to produce any stats that show a completion rate that low in a play off game over the last 10 years and i'll be happy to take it back.

| They might've got easier.
Wigan lose and can only muster 8 points against a Bradford team who concede points for fun.
Warrington lose AT HOME to Wakefield and concede 40 points, much worst than going down narrowly 16-14 in the dying seconds away from home like we did.
To go back to one of the OP points "will we cope?"
Maybe we will, maybe we won't, only time will tell.
But the same can easily be said of all the others around us.

That's it for Wigan then this year. Sack the coach and start planning for 2015.

| Wigan Warriors 13 Leeds Rhinos 13, 28th Sept 2012. Leeds made the Grand Final in a tough, absorbing game. Their completion rate that night was very low. I recall Delaney having a fantastic game but turning the ball over an awful lot.

Still not sure about him myself, gives needless penalty's away at the very worst time for me, he doesn't seem to have much control over his aggression.
I would still like to see how he goes next year with a full off season and hopefully no injuries/illness

| Aiton's discipline is no worse than JJB, or Ablett, or Peacock's traditional one high tackle penalty every game.
He offers good options out of dummy half, he's very good at engaging the markers with little jumps out before passing and his service is generally of a high standard.

According to Opta Leeds made 17 errors (with Delaney being credited with 4) to Wigan's 12

Saints winning 16-8 after 62 minutes and the commentator reports the following completion rates: Saints 79% success. Leeds 21% success.

That's f*cked up.
Still don't know how we won that game from the position we were in and the defending we'd done in the 2nd half. My most favourite 15 minutes of watching leeds, ever, period.

I think so too.
My impression was that with Saints scoring 3 times in the 3rd Quarter clearly thought they had it won and after Foster kicked the goal form half way they were already lifting the trophy mentaly but Rugby is a funny old game aint it

Such a strange 2nd half. I'm not one to always be confident/relaxed going into the final quarter of those big games and the 2004, 2008, 2009 and 2012 GF wins (as well as the playoff semis vs Wire in 2011 and Wigan vs 2012 I was as nervous as hell and didn't know which way it'd go.
But as soon as Foster knocked over that penalty from halfway to make it 16-8 I felt so relaxed that we'd come back and remember turning to my mate saying that if we can at least share possession 50/50 or slightly better in the final 20 mins we'll score three tries and win roughly 24/26 - 16.......and it almost was but for Gaskell chipping the ball into Hardaker's hands.
Not sure what it was (perhaps that Saints went for 2 kicks from penalties when they were on the front foot, that we came from 5th so nothing to lose) and like I say it's not like I'm always fully confident entering that final quarter but on that one occasion when the Leeds team ran back up to halfway to kick off at 16-8 I was so relaxed we'd win I can't quite believe it still to this day.

At 16-8 they had scored three on the bump but where stll only 8 points in front.
They had some bad luck with injuries late on and taking the FGB for a spell in the final quarter was a disaster for them.
You could just feel it in the air they were gone and Leeds (Sinfield) spotted it rallied the troops and made a mockery of the stats.

The substitution of Graham close to the end when things had already begun to swing back in our favour is one I always think of when people complain about leaving Peacock out there for so long in games.
Saints had pretty much all the ball for the final 3/4 mins of the first half and the opening 20 mins of the second half (wasn't it like 5 dropouts they forced?) yet they only managed two tries (and one of which Webb should've battered into row Z).
To dominate for a 25 minute passage of play in the GF and not open up clear daylight rang alarm bells. Scott Moore I think in particular was a main culprit for Saints. He gave away a high shot on BJB (who was having a shocker) on our first set after going 16-8 down and then darted out of the line on Burrow when he set up Hall's try.

| That whole play off series of 2011 including the comeback in the final to top it will never be beaten in the satisfaction stakes IMO.the meltdown all over these boards as we shattered dreams left and right was special. Plus, the icing on the cake, i won a boat load of cash when i got us at ridiculous odds before the Huddersfield game, great times!
