Decided to go to the game tonight and give the Futile Challenge match or whatever it is called a miss on BD.
Looking forward to seeing the stars of the future and get to see the SS at the same time all for a fiver.

Also, get Mustapha training with the first team. He could be another.

I thought the England lads were outstanding (2 wingers looked iffy). There's some future stars in this squad & not just the Leeds lads.

Thought Mustapha started well until their number 17 came on and got the better of him
McLelland needs a year on DR and one or two nice touches from Newman but got pushed off the ball a few times.
Holroyd the pick of the Leeds lads for me.
The two second rowers for us played very well and our full back.
Good place kicking by Smith.
Enjoyable game.
Hope the guy in the SS was ok as he didn't look too good at all.

Thought Newman looked head and shoulders better than the much lauded aussie centre's. His footwork and strength was impressive. Telling to hear Chev Walker also state he's one of the strongest players in the Leeds first team squad already. Hes gonna be a big player for us in the future.

There was some seriously talented British youngsters out there tonight.
And putting one over on the Aussies always brings on a smiler two.

AS has already been mentioned, there is a very talented group of young players coming through and not only at the Rhinos but also at all of the other clubs too which bodes well for our game.

IMO England's defence won the game and our pack were far better than the Aussie forwards,They never really looked capable of breaking us down.

Tom Holroyd was my stand out player.

If I was looking to bring in junior talent into the Rhinos then I would be very interested in Oliver Wilson (Bulls) and Sam Walters (Widnes) especially with them both not being already at clubs in SL

Tom Holroyd was excellent, Owen Trout also had a good game. Mustapha and Newman look like great prospects too. They need to be playing at a higher level than U19’s academy next year.

There was some talk at a recent Fev fans' forum of the possibility of a couple of Leeds players joining Fev on season-long loans. As Fev fan I'd dearly love Newman to be one of them, but he might be next in line for you guys at centre now behind Watkins /Murrell and I suspect the likes of Walters & Ormondroyd are more likely to be the players involved.

I'd love to see Mustapha/Dupree on a season-long loan too (assuming Holroyd will be pushing the fringes of the 1st team at Leeds), but Fev are reasonably well stocked in the pack whereas we are short on outside backs.

I can see Newman going to Feb for the season to be honest. Sutcliffe and Handley will more likely back up Watkins and Hurrell.

I can see Newman getting the gig on the wing outside of Hurrell - Luke Briscoe simply isn't of the standard we need if we are to seriously challenge the top sides

I agree but I think Handley will win wing spot over Luke Briscoe.

Handley will get first shot IMO. Newman should be first back up centre, there will be plenty of opportunities. Should not be held back by the Sutcliffe obsession.
