No, I get that mate. It's an easier commute for sure but it's still a commute and as Wigan held his contract I think it was more a case of a better reason to break it than a slightly easier drive. They did allow him to speak to all the club's that fit his stated desire to be "near his family" which I think was being more than fair.

As you say though; all irrelevant now. The focus has, quite rightly, shifted to his health issues. Hopefully it wasn't too serious and he makes a full recovery.

In the after match press conference JJB said he had been to Manchester for some more test and was advised to rest at home, so wasn't at the game.

Back in training according to YEP so a possibility for Salford, who knows.

Any update on Zac's new deal. I think he has been superb and added a lot to the team and deserves at least a 2 years deal. He is an intelligent lad with responsibilities
and surely now will not jeopardise his last 4/5 years in the game.

I know others disagree but I think he has been as important as Martin second half of season. Will be gutted to see him leave if he does

Very strange phraseology from Hardaker in his latest interview: "I've not been shown anything... nothing has been produced so we’ll have to see how it goes... We’ll have to sort something out soon though, because the season is finishing."

I read a lot between the lines there but I suspect, whilst he says he's not been shown anything, Leeds and whoever manages him nowadays have plenty already agreed and probably have had for quite a while.

Surely they are offering him a deal... absolutely barmy if they don't. Match winner, plus we're letting Sutty go.. back line would be much much weaker without him next year.

Agree he is too good a player to let go if nothing else his ability to play anywhere across the backline from 1-5.

I don’t think he’d have risked playing in the NZ game if he didn’t have a contract pretty much sorted. That would only be speculation on my part mind.

It just does not add up . We have 4 / 5 players leaving and we have not recruited any stars on big money.
Unless we have some average players on massive money , which knowing Garys history , I doubt , we cannot be up to the salary cap.
The only other explanation can be that in view of the finances of the club over the last 2 years, the club are unable or unwilling to spend up to the cap limit - we are making the decision based on finances and not on the requirements of the team.

No that's definitely not the case.
I'm sure there's some questionable cap management in the mix in this but there's also some signings still to announce by all accounts. And some upgrades to other players kick in next year.

Let's hope we are not in the Wasps or Worcester finance area.

Leeds live saying Hardaker been given permission to talk to other clubs, contracted until November so looks like he’s over played his cards and we won’t meet his high demands.

Hmmm. i've read that article, there's not much substance to it imo.

No but surely a deal would have been done by now, both sides calling each others bluff, doubt Leeds will budge and maybe Hardaker not getting the big offers he was hoping for.
