| Difficult to disagree with all thats been said. Poor performance from the 25th minute on. We lack cutting edge, we lack speed. We desperately miss Newman.
Our last tackle plays was attrocious last night and far too many missed tackles and offloads allowed. Losing Cam Smith certainly hurt our middle defence.
Austin had moments, Sezer had a poor game for me. Leeming had a couple of nice early scoots but overall was really disappointing, he doesnt miss many tackles but for a middle defender his contact isnt good enough. Mikolaj doesnt look 100% and Walker is gonna need time.
Weve too many non-contributors tho, Sutcliffe, Briscoe, Mellor, Thompson what are they bringing to the table?
That being said. It was a poor performance. We all know we are better than that. It happens from time to time. We need a response and are capable of it.
Fair play to Wigan they fully deserved the win. They are a good defensive team and cut us to ribbons at times also.
Injuries are starting to mount for us already, big worry.
Jeez it was cold last night!!!

| Not a kneejerk sack the coach now moment but I really hope we're looking at a successor who knows how to convert pressure into points. While ArthurC's point about pace is spot on, Usain Bolt would struggle to score without a system to put him in space. Really unsure what Long's doing to earn a wage.

The ball went backwards off Bibby's arm (otherwise it couldn't have hit his outstretched back foot) so there was no knock on in the first place. The VR got the decision right, albeit for the wrong reason.'"
Yep, definate try. Thought Liam Moore, once again, had an excellent game. Plenty said this week by Leeds about refs and panels but Liam Moore is an excellent young referee.

| Lack of pace is a clear issue. I’m surprised this hasn’t been addressed over past 4-5 years.
If we go 0-3 next week then Wakey game will be must win. I like Agar but I think he did his work, and this was the season to get a new coach in. I’m wondering if he could go upstairs later in season and ? Give Longy a go, maybe look at getting Maggsy back as assistant? I’m not bothered about winning anything this year, we just need to keep building and have an big clear out at end of year (again).
Emphasis on pace.

Mikolaj looks about 60% to me. Maybe it's because I'm getting old, but I can't remember being colder at a match. Despite the result I have been a lot more miserable though. Not quite down there with 10 try Offiah massacre at Central Park.

| What the **** was that? Utterly deflating after Warrington Wolves performance. Few walk out of that with credit. What the hell had they been doing in training the last week? That was truly awful. Any ideas anyone to explain that?

Aye it was cold!
I think as fans we probably live too much in the moment, by that I mean we take the latest result snd extrapolate it out over a season.
We were poor wigan were good, might all be different in a few weeks/months time.
Jai field seems to be the greatest player of all time, next week he might have a shocker!
Really big game for us Thursday they need to repay us fans that travelled last night!

Missing 7 of our best players. Remaining players nacked after big effort with 11 men at times last week.
Mik on one leg, Walker thrown back in way too early because Myler out.
My major criticism is we have no quality at centre with Newman out.

It happens sometimes with all sports teams.
In fairness theres not many times in the last year where ive thought they lacked effort, last night though was one of those times.

Think you are 100% wrong, it’s a major point.
In the play off win v Wigan we just got away with it because Wigan offered nothing on attack.
Fast forward to last night and again it was clear the game plan was give them back the ball near the corner, I know the weather was bad but we should be trying to score tries when 10 yards from their line.

Actually I thought for the first 20 minutes we looked very good. Games can turn on the smallest things. If Tindall had cut back inside we might well have got a 2nd try and they might have had one binned. Maybe heads wouldn't have gone down like they did. Maybe, maybe, maybe . . .

Apparently it should not have been given. At the end of the sky coverage, Carney said Darryl Powell had told them off Camera, the rule is you can only kick the ball between the knee and toe and you can’t use the heel as Bibby did.
I’d never heard this before but if true we are in a scary world where a Cas fan knows more about the rules than Moore and Thaler put together. God help us.

Oh yeah. No resilience shown at all. Do think the cumulative effect of players missing and last weeks draining efforts contributed.

| On reflection....
Lots of good points made.
Walker and Sezer had poor games - both are better than that.
Walker has to be given some slack as he's been out for 2 years.
Prior and Tet played well - but we struggle when they are not on the field.
The rotations are not good enough.
Donaldson has the best tackling technique at the club - but absolutely nothing else.
Thompson and Mellor don't offer anything really.
We looked clueless when we were close to their line.
I know it's first game for Sezer and Austin, but we didn't look like scoring.
We actually missed Dwyer when we were close to their line.
It's a worry what Long is bringing - I really don't get this view of him being head coach.
We looked disorganised, disjointed, disinterested and unfit.
Quite a bit to be concerned about...
Oledski is not fit, but we had no other choice.
Briscoe is finished. And Sutcliffe had another poor game.
It must be time for Broadbent now.
In the end, we were burned for speed by Field.
An average player with speed to burn.
He'll score plenty of tries against the likes of us.
Against the top teams he will be anonymous.
Talking of speed, Tindall looked a threat - should get another shot.
Yeh, he messed up when he should have stepped inside Field, but he'll learn from that - and we all jumped out of our seat!!
And what was Agar doing putting Johnson in the centre??
Ridiculous - I worry about some of the in game coaching decisions and rotations tbh.
No complaints about the ref this week.
Moore is probably the best ref.
Didn't get much wrong.
Yellow card was harsh, but the game was gone by then.
And we give far too many 6 again's away - they killed us.

| No I don't think so. We're 2 games in and we dominated large parts of that with wire not exactly controlling, it's not like we were starved of possession and territory. Add to that there were some supposed fresh bodies in there. If those exertions have killed us to that degree 1 week in it doesn't bode well.

| Having players missing for injury or suspension is a valid reason for not been at our best.
Saying we were struggling after last weeks game, despite having a 6 day turnaround, is a poor excuse. Yes we played the majority of the game with 12 men but it was the 1st game of the season. If the players cannot play to the same intensity the following week then that is a major concern.

Agree about the ref he was good and in fairness bar some laying on we were both well disciplined with regards to head high tackles and thankfully no late tackles.
Tindall for me keeps his place especially with Handley picking up a knock, he is very very quick and string for a young kid, he seems to have worked on his defensive weaknesses aswell.
We had a shocker of a ten minutes after halftime it happens and as fans we may be over analysing it (which is fine that’s what we should do) if we put in a decent performance or a few on the trot this wigan game will be quickly forgotten, it’s round 2.

And what if we go on a long winning streak?
We played half last season without any halfbacks didn’t we have something like 15 different halfback combinations? i think you’re underestimating how well we actually did last year with all the disruption
You mention 2016, what if it ends uo like 2017, remember us getting walloped by cas that year in a much worse performance than last night

| We were decent without being great for the first 20-25 last night, changed the props, had a bit of bad luck for their first try, and then fell off a cliff for the next 20-30 mins. Like I said I can handle players making mistakes, but we showed a mental weakness last night, that needs addressing double quick.
I hope we are still looking for a big beast prop, we’re definitely short there even when they’re all fit. Still too many plodders in our squad from about shirt 20 onwards, they need to be moved on and replaced with better quality or give the kids a shot.
