We can't keep blokes for the sake of it.
As you point out it could be a tough period but if managed right could be a really exciting one!'"
I think we could still be seeing Senior in a Leeds shirt next season. He is still one of the better centres in SL! Says more about the quality of centres in SL than anything else mind.

| Quote ="thebloodbath"On a related prop theme in our recent games against the Crusaders I thought Richard Moore was outstanding, a real handful. Great aggression levels and difficult to put down. I haven't seen that level of form from him for quite some time.'"
He's just never quite had the breaks he needed to crack it at a top club, some self-inflicted, some not.
When he started out at Leeds he had all the tools to be a real handful, but turned into a bit of a Big Time Charlie apparently. His career went backwards, ending up at Keighley (IIRC?) and working part time as a doorman where he got involved in a couple of "incidents".
Got another chance in SL thanks to Wakefield, seemed to be learning the error of his ways then got diagnosed with Crohn's Disease. It's taken him a while to get to the point where his health issues are manageable but he finally seems to have the mental and physical side of his game both sorted at the same time.
He'll always be a "what could have been" IMO, bit like Gareth Morton from that same Academy vintage.

| If true I wonder who will have the honour of being Gareth's new whipping boy ?
As others have stated M c Shane, Hood and Burrow should be able to cover the loss ( only just though ).
Time to sign a top class half-back and right centre at least.

He was actually a product of Keighley Cubs but chose the bright lights of Leeds rather than his hometown club. As a lad he was big, strong, athletic, skilful but immature and most Keighley fans thought he needed more aggression and killer instinct. Whatever Leeds and (then Bradford) did to him certainly gave him aggression but unfortunately no self control. At one point he was banned from nearly every pub in Keighley.
Wakey rescued him from Leigh and were his last chance saloon. It's a shame that at the height of his "recovery" he was diagnosed with Crohn's as he was being tracked for national honours.
Another case of "could have", "should have".

And more to the point, what barefaced t arrogance is this that someone should presume that he (Cudjoe) would leave a competitive, going places, and let's face it (dare i say it) BETTER team than the Rhino's are now, to be part of a team in massive flux?

| I'd go with the following recruitment assuming certain players arn't here next season:
Buderus Out Hood In
Webb out BJB In
Kirke out Pitts in
Senior out Watkins In
Cross out Ambler In
Kylie out Amor In
Ali out new signing In
new right centre In
That leaves us with a possible 4 overseas players (Delaney, Huraki, and 2 new signigs). Thats a far more acceptable number than the 7 we have at the moment.

| well the Sidney hearald did report on Tahu but regarding Buderius "
''Nothing has been done at all with that,'' Palmer said. ''We're still working through our roster. His name has been thrown up a couple of times but we've got a long way to go before we finalise everything.''
Palmer said the Knights had held preliminary talks with Buderus's manager but had not yet made him an offer. Buderus is in his third season with Leeds Rhinos and will be 34 next season. Newcastle's interest in their former captain has left incumbent hooker Isaac De Gois in lim

| If we do end up having a clear out of our present 1st team squad, including several overseas players then surely we should have plenty of Cap space available
IMO we should use this SL Cap money to sign 2 top class players from the NRL.
I believe that we need an experienced centre and of the highest caliber.
My number 1 priority would be a player like Matt Cooper , I'm not sure of his contract situation but he would be a very talented addition to our squad
Our 2nd major signing depends on which players depart
I would also like us to sign a couple of promising players currently plying their trade in SL and depending on the decision regarding the SL franchise and if Wakey do get the bullet then there's 2 players there that I'd take a punt on:
One is Chris Dean he looks quality and the other is Paul Johnson who also looks like a very talented player, and neither would cost the earth.

New Signing (prop)

| I think this is going a bit far! All these in's and out's are pure speculation at the min. Some posters have there own little lists and not one player is confirmed
But what ever happens Brian McDermott is probably the most important coach in terms of recruitment for a very long time. Daryl Powell had it easy with so many youngsters coming into the first team to make the selections obvious. A couple may of been gambles but he didn't have massive expectations like we have today. Smith and Bluey put a couple of touches of their own to the young squad. But Brian McDermott finds himself with all these players coming to the end of their careers with some youngsters still having question marks above their heads. McDermott may have to gamble on Amor/Ambler/Hood/BJB filing Webbs awesome boots a few may not come off and the high standards may slip...that's when the fans will be on his back. End of this season will be important, end of 2012 will be vital!

Hardaker slipped my mind for some stupid reason
I hate to admit it but Burrow has been playing better recently. I can think of worse players to have at the moment anyway. I like Bailey and Kirke has been playing better in the last 6 weeks or so. Ambler and Amor have been playing well but they have both been given added responsibilities at the clubs they are playing for. I reckon they wouldnt be any better than the guys we have off the bench at the moment but hey, it still makes the squad stronger and means we can have a good rotation. Id still look at bringing a big prop in domestically or if not, the NRL. But not a Ben Cross. Someone with impact who teams fear when they hit the line. Anyway, the whole point of that team was more to say I dont think we will miss the guys "leaving" as much as some think
I hope you have regained some respect for me, otherwise I may not sleep
'"
I agree about Burrow....he does look sharper. However, he still falls short as a scrum half in the taking-control 'general' kicking-with-effective-options mode. Still too much headless chicken. Therefore still a priority for me ....if only to increase the options of immediately dropping Sinfield back to cover for Burrow or McGuire.
Agree also no more Crosses ! Or troublesome Willie Masons for that matter.
If we have plenty of good UK born options (which we DO appear to have in Ambler, Amor and Singleton) why bother ???
Much better to sign an expensive [utop Aussie[/u recruit for RC ...or not at all. Again, I'd rather BJB, Wilson and co to be given a shot there rather than sign up another second rate/second row Delaney type (another you appear to have forgotten as a good [ipack[/i option )
Respect remains. Hope you can sleep now

| I think Buderus will stay for next season. The Knights wouldn't be offering him that much cash to go back, as they're investing heavily elsewhere. Leeds would also have to agree to an early release, which they may not do if a number of other players leave.
Of the possible departures, the one that has to be sorted ASAP is Senior. If he stays he'll want to stay left centre. That means yet another year with Watkins getting few/no chances to play in what's supposed to be his best position. Leeds have to show that whilst they're loyal to players, that doesn't mean they can play on well past their sell-by date. So IMO he should be told now that he won't be here next season, and if he wants to keep running round he'll be able to get another deal elsewhere.

I think I agree with this post. Quality over quantity is far better, and use them to work with promising youngsters and promote them.
A definately, and Cooper would be a great signing.
Can't understand the rush to name props. Personally never been a fan of taking on overseas props unless there is a dire need for it. For me overseas signings should be s, Halfbacks, Backrowers, and at times Hookers. Props and Wingers signing from overseas appear just like signins for the sake of it to me. We have enough props in this country to match the overseas ones, it's the other positions we seem to fail.
For me, I would go for Carvell for prop (think he is still out of contract), Cooper in at , Waterhouse for backrow, and I will still say this halfback spot needs a contingency.

Not so sure I agree with this, and seems to be quite a few shouting for this. It's only six months since both players were deemed not good enough by Saints. The same Saints that are using youngsters left right and centre. It's quite easy to stand out in the Wakey side at the moment, because most of the players are gash. Therefore any hint of ability and people notice you. If I was taking anyone from Wakey it would be Murphy, at least he's shown it over a longer period that he has the ability.
But I agree with looking to sign a couple of promising players in Super League.
