| If you was Ash Golding with 3.5 years left on your deal would you leave Leeds to go to a club like Fev, Bulls or York on a part time basis? Which are realistically the club's he would end up at.
That's the issue Leeds currently have, we gave deals that was too long to some players.
Golding could end up being of some use to us this year, particularly as a good defensive winger who would finish the odd try off. He's probably a safer option to Luke Briscoe but neither are standard Leeds should be looking for really.
I can see Handley been starting winger but Ash could back up that position.

Golding’s way too small for the wing isn’t he though?
I don’t have a problem with Leeds giving Golding the contract they did. This was before Walker had made himself known.
We cant expect loyalty and commitment from the players if the club never shows any.

| We had Golding playing in middle of the park as s 9 last year and he defended well there so I'm sure he could cope as a winger. He's no small than Tom Briscoe in height.
He defended well on Boxing Day there. As a back up I've no issue.

Golding is everyone's favourite scapegoat, the abuse he gets on social media is quite frankly vile. Ever since Walker appeared some people have been trying to drive him out and wanting rid, he never gets praise when he plays well, but even a slight mistake and they want him hung drawn and quartered. There are plenty of players who should be/deserve to be shipped on before Golding.

| If Leeds want to be back up there with Wigan, Stains and Wire every position needs to have a contender and a back up. The top clubs don’t have journeymen they prefer youngsters with potential. Ash lost his mojo and opportunity when hardaker got booted out.
I see him regularly hand in hand with his missus up whiterose but there is no fire in his eyes.
Look at Jack W he looks like he could rip your arm off and eat it raw whilst laughing in your face. That spark, that desire, that passion needs to be present for players to be better than average.
Best example for me was Sinny as a player. Super bloke off the field, articulate, honest and true. On the field he put the fear of God up other players and he only really lost it that once in his last season against Cas with the weirdly contrived headbutt.
I just hope Furner can create that passion in the team.

Walker was within the youth system well before Golding was given his 5 year deal. He was given that deal for two main reasons:
1. It keeps their wages down - long deal lower salary
2. If it doesn't work out someone will have to pay a fee

Think I must be watching a different game to you.
Why would Golding have fire in his eyes whilst walking hand in hand with his girlfriend? The Golding I see has plenty of determination on the pitch where it needs to be.
Again not sure players from the opposition look at Walker thinking he is going to rip their arm off as good as he is he certainly doesn't have much venom in him or aggression for that matter.
Equally whist Sinfield was an excellent player I'm not sure he put the fear of god into players. If I recall many thought he deserved to be dropped towards the latter part of his career before coming good again when it mattered.
As for the contreived headbut yes it was soft but he connected with the head and sending off was correct.
I will give you Sinfield was a nice bloke off the park and probably didn't have fire in his eyes when out shopping with his partner just like Golding.

| To be fair to Golding I think he has his weaknesses but I don't see a lack of passion at all. Playing for Leeds clearly means something to him and he shows it.

I am not a big fan, but you are totally correct there, he is Leeds through and through, and passionate about it.
That said, his greatest quality is the cheer leading, because he is just too weak to be a starting player, or for that matter utilise precious cap space. Very good broken field runner on the pitch, but that’s where the positives end.

Can`t remember the last time I was at Odsal.
Thinking back I seem to remember big Les had fire in his eyes though.

| We would be fools to let Ash Golding leave, at Elland Rd against the tigers, playing hooker he was the reason for the comeback, he got the pack moving forward when we was being hammered. The lad can tackle he is not injury prone like a lot of others in the team, he has pace and can catch the high ball, those on here who simply believe that he is not good enough just look at what we have. As much as I like JW he has neither the size or the speed to make the full back his own position, he is far too injury prone, I do however hope JW does prove me wrong. You could have had the best full back in the world playing for us last year and he would have had a terrible year playing behind a defence that was non existence. If you note all the good full backs don't have to tackle much, they have a great defence in front of them, we had a shocking defence last year. If JW becomes full back, I hope he has a decent defence in front of him, if not no doubt everyone will be on his back. Anywhere, at Stanningley ARLFC, it was being muted that Wakefield have been speaking to him, I just hope we don't lose a quality player who can play a number of positions without him being given a fair crack of the whip been able to play behind a quality defence. I've heard some rubbish on here by the comments seeing him at the White Rose with no fire in his eyes makes me laugh.

You must have been asleep for the first half hour of that game. Golding was the very reason we were so far behind, with his poor positioning and couldn't catch the high ball. It was the introduction of Walker from the bench that set about the comeback, who was very good. To be fair you are correct on the introduction at hooker later, and the impact that had, but the comeback was already moving.
Walker is for more physical than Golding. Look at the yardage in contact and you will see every single time Walker makes progress, where in the majority of times Golding is put back. They may not look that way stood there, but in actual contact it is clear. That physicality on boxing day appeared to have moved on a step further with the difference.

| JW is every bit our no1 FB & he's earned it.
I do hope Golding stays & id happily put him on the wing before L.Briscoe.
Wrt 9 for me if Parcell or Dwyer are not playing that spot has to go to Corey Johnson it's the right time to start intergrating him into the starting 17 especially Parcell in his last year & rumoured to be homeward bound.
