| Quote ="Marty Grrrrrrrrrr!"Im not sure Wigan looked much improved really. Most of the tries came from kicks. They are a very well organised defensive team, 2nd only to Saints IMO.
We will struggle to break them down. At full strength we are a better team than Wigan but we will never be at full strength.
Be interesting to see Austin partner Sezer to see how improved our attack is but we lack cutting edge and pace. Hopefully Newman plays.
Can see it being another low scoring game in Wigan. Even with several out we are capable of matching them. Its anyones game Friday i think.'"

| I thought the intensity dropped in the first half when Tetevano & Prior were off and you could see it. Agar eluded to this in his post match. One thing strikes me again from the game is the last play options and not applying pressure on the opposition goal line with kicks or the chance of repeat sets. Having said that, thought this was the case even with Gale last year.

| Quote ="batleyrhino"So I’d say from the back, Walker was poor but still plays, Tindall was OK. Briscoe is a joke at Centre, he can’t pass or create space so Broadbent must play next week. Sutcliffe is lucky we don’t have another option as he was anonymous. Austin and Sezer both play again but with rockets up their s. The forwards were poor overall. Tet isn’t living up to billing as Marquee for Leeds, and whilst Leeming was OK he needs to command those around him more. Prior did well. Mellor and Gannon were both outgunned for aggression, and Smith didn’t have his best game. The bench was really poor, Mik didn’t really have any impact, and Donno and Thompson shouldn’t be in the squad if we had better prop options. CJ was so far out of position at Centre I’m not even going to comment, the kid had no chance.
I’d say Broadbent comes in and Briscoe goes on the wing for Tindall. If Newman is fit he replaces Sutcliffe. Then we have to find another 2/3 options in the pack, maybe O’Connor for Donaldson and Dwyer for CJ. One thing is for certain, if Agar lets some of the forwards play again next week they know that this level of performance is OK whilst ever we’re a little short of numbers.'"
Some good calls.
Walker keeps his place as without Myler he is our best option imo. If Fuzzy isn't fit I would stick with Tindall. Thought he did well overall. Getting tackled into touch on the1st tackle was poor but I'm not sure any of our other wingers would have skinned Marshall so easily. Also Thought he dived a bit early when chasing Field, he would have caught him imo.
It would be nice to see Broadbent given a game at centre.
Sezer was the biggest disappointment for me. I can't imagine he will get dropped but that was poor tonight.
I was generally happy with Tet, Prior and Oledski. It's when they are not on the field that we dipped alarmingly, especially prior.
I think O'Connor deserves a chance and should be in the 17.

Tindall doesn’t deserve to be dropped if Handley is injured, i thought he was actually probably the inly positive out of tonight

A fair summing up, apart from briscoe, I wouldn’t have him in the squad in any position. Worryingly tonight we looked a soft team ,when we come under any pressure we fold. On the other side of the coin we aren’t having much luck. The yellow card was a joke and the first Wigan try was freak.
Plus as per normal we have suffered some more injuries. None of this had any bearing on the result but it certainly didn’t help our cause.
At the risk of stating the blindingly obvious the Catalan game is a must win game. To start the season with 3 defeats when everything looked so promising would be a disaster.

What’s disappointing is we didn’t look soft last week, our line speed and agression in defence was outstanding, to see it drop off this week was as i say disappointing

| I can't remember if it was 6-0 or 6-6 at the time, but the Tindall break was a big turning point. Even if he didn't score we'd have continued to build pressure. I don't blame the lad, it's part of the learning curve and it's great to have moments to get you out of your seat.
I think the first try was both a fluke and as pointed out in the analysis an incorrect call by the VR.
Those two events really zapped our momentum, and we'd looked pretty decent until that point.
Agree with others though that when Prior and Tet went off, then we lost Smith to injury, we just had nothing in the middle. We lost momentum and never got it back again. 2nd half was pathetic.
We don't seem to be getting the rub of the green though yet this season. Another soft yellow card, a could more injuries, and a couple of iffy video ref calls

That’s down to Oledsjki not being fit and missing Martin (outstanding last week in defence) and Bentley (he’s very very good on his day). It also stands out like a sore thumb the lack of another good prop.

We didn't look soft in the first 20 either. But we weakened when we did our rotations. Donaldson and Thompson on together is a big no

Correct, certain players on display tonight definitely not up for it. Big chance next week to redeem themselves. Personally I think we will win.

Its a real good test of the players next week, ill be extra disappointed if there isn’t a positive reaction from them.
Even if we lose it isn’t season over despite what some on here think.
The reaction is key for me

| Gutted with that performance. First 20ish good but where was the kicking game? Tindal going into touch big moment momentum wise but thought we didn't look like we could be d after half time. Interesting Wilkins comments about the halves not being up for it before kick off

Just rewatched the first half, tindall should have come in field a bit then tried to take field on the outside but he will learn and its easy to say watching on the tv.
Id be absolutely livid if i was Agar with their first try, we just stood there and let field pick up the ball and run and put it down.
That’s schoolboy stuff.
Although i got the feeling from agars presser he is absolutely livid about a few things.

Do me a favour. Lean forward and stick your leg out behind you. Now look at your shoulder. If you think that it's behind your back foot then I suggest you get down to the doctor's asap as there's something seriously wrong with you!
The ball went backwards off Bibby's arm (otherwise it couldn't have hit his outstretched back foot) so there was no knock on in the first place. The VR got the decision right, albeit for the wrong reason.

| Won't dwell on the performance because I think it's pretty much all been said. One thing that really stood out was the importance of speed. Wigan have a player in Field ( they also have another one in French if he ever comes back) who has the ability to win a game in the blink of an eye. We have not addressed this in our recruitment and have compounded it in our retention be extending plodders like Sutcliffe and Briscoe. I was surprised we chose to give Myler another contract - despite his renaissance at Full Back - for exactly this reason. We desperately need a player who can go the length of the field and while we don't have one, we'll be very vulnerable to sides who have. Worth remembering that if Tindall had been playing for Wigan he would have scored that long range try because we wouldn't have had a player to catch him. Speed wins games both in attack and defence. The likes of Burrow, McGuire, Webb and Donald demonstrated this to spectacular effect not so many years ago. The club needs to address this.

| What are Donaldson and Thompson in the modern game? Not back rowers or props, at best they might get away with being industrious 13s but we don't need 2 or even 3 of those. We are basically trying to play with 1 prop when the interchanges happen.

You got a whole season of Blake Austin in one game last night, the amazing dummy I cant believe wigan fell for, and him being lazy and not killing that ball from the flukey kick.

| As most people have said after last weeks performance its the manner of the defeat that was the biggest concern. We were in control until conceding a fluke try and then mentally completely dropped off. We allowed Wigan to contantly look to offload and failed to dominate in the tackle. Bateman and Farrell both showed more intelligence and aggression than any of our back row options. Oledski clearly not fit and as everyone has said we clearly missing another prop. Hopefully Newman and Fusitua back for Catalans plus I would have O Connor on the bench as his workrate and attitude is first class both of which were lacking by a few in the 2nd half at Wigan
