Didn't think it was obstruction, but it was close to the line. Senior is a master at legal obstruction, thought McGuire's try was further away from the border line, but was ruled out. You win some you lose some

Hull did just as much crossing/blocking down our right hand side but non of it led to trys.

We would be the same on other boards if it had been the other way round (remember Vainikolo in the CC final)

My thought was that he passed to Hall and then went to support him on his outside. His path took him across Calderwood but as he was in support there was nothing illegal about that. If he had weaved to block Calderwood then fair enough but he didn't.

Baldywould (Money, money money......got no medals) could have caught Hall if he hadn't wanted to admire Senior's tatoos.

Once Senior changed his line and ran accross Calderwood then Hall was never going to be caught, should have been a penalty for obstruction, not that it would have mattered to the result.

Sorry but dont see it, and I am not been biased. It seems fans have an obssession with obstruction these days, since refs and video refs also look for things that dont exist.

3 or 4 years ago, that incident wouldn't even be slightly debated, and the McGuire try would never have been a no try.

IMO the McGuirte try was probably just about right. Webb caught the ball inside Senior and ran outside him. In that case (again IMO) he should not be running towards a Hull player.If the ball is thrown behind Senior to a player on the other side that should not be given as obstruction

Very true, and as I said in another post Hull did plenty of it themselves but it didn't lead to anything for them.

It was clear to me, he passed the ball to Hall and then changed his angle to take him in front of Calderwood, tbh I am not bothered as we were utterly usless and deserved what we got.

It always has, I've always been for the defence rather that the attack. I still feel that Saints should be penalised when they use the Wellens or Pryce link directly behind the dummy runners, despitw what Stevo, Eddie and the referees (including VR) say.

There's no bitterness from me we was fairly and squarely beaten i was merely arguing that calders wasnt wrong to argue with the ref because he had a valid point.

When i say baldy i mean senior because calders actually has a little bit of hair.

And as regards to rovers i couldnt give a monkeys what they do because at the end of the day they havnt done anything that we havnt already done ourselves.

No matter what the call, its always wrong to argue with the ref, especially like that. It was almost Briers-esque

Calderwood should have been in the bin for that outburst. If the refs (and clubs) don't get a grip you know where we'll end up. As Calderwood might himself say F[ioo[/ik me.

As the ball and Senior were beyond Calderwood and closer to the Hull line than he was there surely can be no obstruction? Are you saying that attackers have now to look behind them to see where the opposition are befor they change direction?

To me the only 2 types of obstruction are holding back and where a man clearly goes through the hole created by an attacker running infront of the ball.

Just on a side issue didnt see it at the game but saw it on sky later, did you see the ball boy throw the ball in Calderwood's face - highly amusing

I can think of one ref in particular who would have done more than put him in the bin for his hissy-fit and rightly so.

It was good to see Balderwood outburst.....

He looked a fool, as soon as Hall caught the ball, he diverted his attention in chasing the frog instead of Hall. Just another school boy error from a guy who hasn't quite cut it.

I'm sure he did the same in a Wigan V Leeds game last season as I mentioned earlier in the thread. I was hoping someone else would remember it to save me looking for it myself.

As Barrie McDermott pointed out in commentary, he got old-manned by Senior and reacted badly to it. The fact he was getting stick every time he touched the ball won't have helped his mood, but it was a petulant outburst that was fortunate to find a tolerant referee and touch judge on the end of it.

It's a shame that the outburst is overshadowing what was a fine performance from Calders.

In a struggling team he never gave up, even treating us to one of his trademark 'three-tackles-on-the-bounce' trick. Name me any other wingers that work that hard on defence following a kick chase.

We were also blessed with his classic ''charge to the 20 for a quick tap then get stopped by the ref'' trick.

That's a fair call mate but since he left leeds he has been exposed as the average/ok inconsistent winger he is!!

How/what/when was the internation winger exposed as average and inconsistent?
