I'd have thought a year at a time contract extension for Long seems about right to me. Can't see Saints offering him more, so he may be forced to move on or just accept the year.

Sean Long isn’t a spent force and I hope Leeds nab him.

He’s still the best scrum half in the world when on form as proven with the last win over Australia in Sydney a few years ago. Ok he might not be as consistent in games but I’m sure he gives it his all. As long as he wants to play rugby he’ll want to play it well. You only have to look at our very own Keith Senior whose rugby has gracefully matured with age.

Still I can only dream but I can’t see it happen as we have a brilliant scrum half already whose been in a team that has beaten a team with Sean Long in it. He’ll probably end up at a low club but I’d welcome him to Leeds with open arms!

Long's had plenty of injuries but none that bring his future into question that I can recall.

All those bad hair-do's will eventually take their toll though.

Heard a rumour this weekend that he could well be on his way to the South of France!

All these Saints fans on here who are having digs at him, wonder where they were when he was dropping goals to win them Grand Finals and close games, winning Lance Todd Trophies galore and being one of, quite possibly the, best 7's in superleague. His off the field problems will unfortunately leave his reputation tarnished, but for mine, they should be appreciating the player that has helped them become the team they are.

Can't really argue with that mate but what he did with the betting and his conduct on tour will always tarnish his success and rightly so imo!

We do appreciate that player, but Longy is no longer that player.

Quite. Thinking his time might be up is not to say the Saints fans don't appreciate what he did, and still does at present. Professional RL is a business and there has to be more in the decision of a player to leave the club than sentiment. I haven't seen any Saints fans denying the quality of service he's given them, where the positive contributions have more than outweighed his off-field indiscretions.

They are not enough to atone for those haircuts, but that's another matter.

Nobody is doubting what he has given the squad, but you cannot keep players based purely on what has gone before. This season he has been pretty poor and we are losing valuable points because of his inability to kick goals. It's time for change, and a good opportunity to bring through a good youngster.
