Eastwood was absolutely immense. With the injuries he was the only one we could rely on for the meters to be made, and he did that. The offloads were just an added bonus.
The amount of yardage he gave us in that second half, if not through his own running, then the offload to a supporter to gain, was so so important.
On another note, Senior may well show as 20 tackles and no misses, but there is not stat for bottling out of tackles and leaving it to team mates. Too often he hangs back and does not assist his team mates. He was entirely at fault for that Platt try.

Ok, I'll accept I was going over the top with the word entirely, but I blame Senior more than McGuire, although I accept it was McGuires miss.. All he had to do was assist in the tackle, and it would not have been a problem. But he just stood there watching.
My going over the top comes from a frustration of seeing this consistently happening in games this season. Watch it, he does it all the time. He is very lazy when he thinks someone else can handle it, instead of helping out. His actual 20 tackles made and no misses however is a positive stat.

We're almost in agreement but I'd still lay the majority of blame with the player who had Platt in his grasp and couldn't finish the tackle. Players shouldn't [ineed [/ithe help of a team mate to execute a tackle. I do agree it was poor of Senior not to assist though.

| It shouldn't come as much of a surprise to the NRL followers that Eastwood was outstanding in his interchange prop role. It's the role he excelled in the last couple of seasons.
Leuluai and Jones-Buchanan also have impressive looking meters in the game given their reduced gametime. Peacock is a freak but it's nice to see others step into the breach when he's unavailable.

Ignoring the idea that players should always look to jump on the tacke regardless of whether the first man is struggling, I think that your assertion that no player should need assistance is wrong.
Props vs Halfbacks/wingers comes to mind. Ok, so in this occassion there won't have been much size difference, but what I think hinders Danny is that fact that it was a high ball being contested. In my view it doesn't give the defender the opportunity to dominate the attacker in the same way as the tackle is made from a near standing start, or risks tackling a player in the air.
he still should have completed the tackle though and senior should still have assisted

He didn't just stand there watching. McGuire half had hold of the Bradford player. The Bradford player was swinging round to Keith's side, looking for an offload, Keith stuck out his arm to cover the offload attempt. The Bradford player kept hold of the ball and managed to wriggle out of the attempted tackle and run through to score.
To put the blame on Keith is just wrong. The Bradford player went to McGuire's right, which means that it was the responsibility of the player inside McGuire to assist him, not Keith on the outside. If Keith had gone in to assist McGuire with the tackle and the Bulls player had managed the offload then you'd have been blaming Keith for being drawn in.
The simple fact is that is was just a good 5th tackle play from Bradford, after a good set, which helped them get a little lucky and score. Looking for a Rhinos player to blame is just dumb.

You can live in your own cloud cuckoo land mate, I'm not joining it. Senior should have been in the tackle. Had he managed to offload so be it, but Senior should have been making that tackle, not stood watching and doing nothing.
Like I said earlier, it's not the first time it's happened this year, and it won't be the last. That is what is so frustrating about it when it happened on Sunday.

It is, and you could be correct, and maybe it is JJB that the other poster is on about, but I can't say JJB stood out for me as not doing something. But Senior just stands there and watches, and it is for that, that I am been hard on him.

Keith wasn't stood there watching and doing nothing. Platte was attempting an offload, Keith positioned himself and outstretched an arm to block an offload attempt. Platte kept hold of the ball and managed to break free from McGuire.
It was the 5th tackle and Bradford had played a crossfield kick to their own player. The last thing that everyone should be doing in is piling in on the ball carrier and leaving their own men open. Keith was correct to close down the offload attempt because if he had committed to adding to the tackle Platte would have just offloaded it and played him out of the game.

Whilst respecting your right to have a different opinion the notion that it should not be a basic requirement that a professional rugby league player should not be able to execute a one on one tackle is nonsense. I am not saying players should be left to execute one one ones of someone is in a position to help. But it's a basic skill and it's one our smallest player execute better than most.

This is John Senior isn't it?
Only he could be that biased.
Senior was nowhere near trying to block an offload. Had Platt offloaded that ball then it would have been backwards to him, where Senior was stood in front of the play. Senior was on the goal line side of McGuire and Platt, no chance had he offloaded would he have got to it.
He quite simply stood watching McGuire make the tackle because he thought he would make the tackle. He's done it several times also this season, and I would bet will happen several more times yet. IMO it's just lazy.

Video available here: www.superleague.co.uk/video/index.php?tab=1 The incident is around 4 mins in.
Your assertion that Keith was just stood watching because he thought McGuire would make the tackle is complete and utter ********.
Keith and McGuire are going forward to cover the Bulls players. Platte goes on McGuire's inside but is caught. At that time Keith is tracking back towards the try line. Platte spins round and is looking to try to offload. Keith changes direction and sticks his arm out to cover the offload. Platte spins round, all of Keith's weight is now on his left leg and he's wrong footed by Platte's spinning out of McGuire's tackle.

| Looking at the video, there's another Leeds player tracking back who should also have got involved with the tackle but took the same option Senior did and ran into him, tying both of up for a split-second. I can't make out who it is from the camera angle, it may be Kylie but I'm not sure he was still on at that stage. The fault was largely Maguire's though, and Smith also missed a chance to stop Platt on the way to the line.

Can't believe you have just put that video up, then said the above.
Senior is a good meter behind that tackle, there is no way on earth he is trying to stop on offload. At the exact time he sticks his arm out (which i can only presume is to give direction for the defence), Ryan Hall does the exact same thing. Are you saying Hall is trying to stop the offload aswell?

No he doesn't . Hall is "all arms and legs", anyone who watches him knows that. He isn't lifting his arm for any particular purpose. Senior is blatantly trying to stop the offload.
