| Maybe it would be better to list a team of Headingley produced players ie: those that came through the juniors. This is more relevant than if they were born in inner Leeds or greater Leeds. The old Hunslet & Bramley clubs were in the city of Leeds and deserve the credit for producing some players that ended up at Headingley.
Jason Robinson was born in south Leeds and rejected by the Loiners so really has little connection with our club.
Sorry Damo but McGuire would never get in a team with Stevenson, Shoebottom, Seabourne or John Holmes eligible for 6 and 7

I'm still quite shocked that everyone rates Seabourne so highly having only known him from the work he brings us and never had the chance to see him play.
We also do work for the Gibbons brothers

Its not up to me where this thread goes because I’m not its dictator. But what I am is a creator and I’ve created a thread that’s been enjoyable by arguably all on here. Its sad to see that (as far as I’m aware) I’m the only one so far whose come up with a Leeds born XVII.
Everyone else has just took what suits them out of what I’ve put and made me work harder to do a better than the last Leeds born XVII I did. I’d be grateful if you can come up with one within your own rules. Then all can debate who has a better Leeds born XVII me or you
Quote Sorry Damo but McGuire would never get in a team with Stevenson, Shoebottom, Seabourne or John Holmes eligible for 6 and 7 '"
Shoebottom as far as I’m aware can play at fullback so it makes it convenient, Seabourne can go on the bench as I rate Danny McGuire better thanks to years I’ve admired him and Stevenson I can’t believe I forgot to put him in my XVII
John Holmes no doubt our greatest home born player so he’ll be in the half back pairing no doubt. But personally I’ll still stick with a Danny McGuire and John Holmes half back pairing.
Now please go own me with your Leeds born XVII

If it makes you feel better Damo, i dont agree with him being on the bench. He shouldn't be in the 17 looking at that team

| Phil Cookson could always slot in to second row and a decent player too.
Seabourne was a scrum half and Shoey and John Holmes played at stand off far better choices than than Danny McGuire.

Wigan were only good because been the only full time club and all. Saints were only good because they cheated. Leeds are the cleanest champions in history IMO.

So we're going to have a few years of mediocrity followed by escaping relegation through cheating, move from our ground, lose our chairman because he couldn't cheat anymore followed by more years of mediocrity with a team filled with average overseas players?

So are you just going to say Wigan are better than Leeds or are you going to actually come up with a Wigan Born XVII in order to have a meaningful debate.
Leeds Born XVII v Wigan Born XVII
You probably couldn’t come up with a better best of all time match in the country apart from Yorkshire Born XVII v Lancashire born XVII.

| Very difficult (so many to chose from) but here goes.
Team 1 (all Wigan born and played for Wigan) all Internationals and six international captains
1 Kris Radlinski
2 Jack Hilton
3 Chris Hesketh
4 Martin Gleeson
5 Joe Lydon
6 Shaun Edwards
7 Andy Gregory
8 Ken Gee
9 Joe Egan
10 Brian McTigue
11 Bill Ashurst
12 Andy Farrell
13 Phil Clarke
Team 2 (all Wigan born) all Internationals and only two who didn't play for Wigan
1 Martin Ryan
2 Gordon Ratcliffe
3 Ernie Ashcroft
4 Keith Holden
5 John Stopford
6 Dave Bolton
7 Sean Long
8 John Barton
9 Martin Dermott
10 Andy Platt
11 Norman Cherrington
12 Mick Cassidy
13 Mike Gregory
Team 3 (all Wigan born) 11 Internationals and only one player who hasn't played for Wigan.
1 Shaun Briscoe
2 Liam Colbon
3 Jackie Cunliffe
4 Paul Johnson
5 Johnny Lawrenson
6 Stefan Ratchford
7 Tommy Bradshaw
8 Frank Collier
9 Terry Newton
10 Shaun Wane

And I still couldn't fit in the likes of Paul Deacon, Bill Sayer, Colin Clarke etc.

Your best Leeds born 13 MIGHT just about compete with the 3rd team I posted, but wouldn't get within 20 points of the 2nd or 40 of the 1st.
Check your history, Rugby League didn't begin in 2005.

Given that every team you posted is a mix of players from different era's it's just YOUR opinion and not FACT!!
We know Wigan USED to be good we hear it often enough from you pie fans who have nothing else to cling onto.
