A rumour spreads and the club are continually asked questions about it.Eventually they confirm or deny it.I saw an interview with sinfield in the last 5 to 6 weeks where he did exactly that.Plus,peter smith would have probably have tweeted something by now to deny it (I assume he hasn't).

Ava probably just reached tone to make the best decision. Must he hard if partner hasn't stopped here. If he gets, an NRL offer who could blame him for not coming back. If no offer it will be fine back or retire...

Zane, Oledski, Holroyd and Ava would be a very handy front row indeed. 3 year contract (in theory) means I guess we see Zane as being a cornerstone of the pack while the younger players are developing. He looks aggressive and may well be a good influence on the pack.

Would be good to see one or two more coming through.

Marquee is not about how much they get paid, it’s about how much of it counts on the cap. When we have a largely young team, and quite a small squad, it’s inevitable that some players will be on high salaries.

True but how many teams would pay over the marquee amount and not class it as marquee?

We shouldn't get too hung up on whether somebody is marquee or not. This year the cap is 2.1 million. Your squad has to fit within that but, you can exceed that figure with payments to a maximum of two players if they are paid over 175k. So if Tetavano is 200k, 25k of his wage might be marquee money. However, when you consider the wages we have offloaded this year its possible, even probable, that we are under the limit even with Tetavano. I think that is how it works.

We had plenty of cap space when Merrin left and a few more have gone since. Even when you take into account Tetevano coming in and a handful of contract upgrades we must surely still have plenty left. At £220k that’s good value for a top line NRL forward in his prime. A lot of NRL fans are giving Penrith some real stick for him leaving, they see it as a big loss which tells you something

Depends how many you have. Wigan were allegedly paying wages to Hastings, Burgess and French that would qualify as Marquee. If you’ve only got two it’s obvious, but you can have more.

No need to declare it as a marquee signing if room already on the cap. Technically speaking you could sign 5 players on 400k per annum & still have a squad under the cap. You declare 2 as marquee players.

Personally scrap the marquee rule & just increase the base salary cap substantially.

Prior as well although 13 seems his best position to start but spells in the front row. Plus Thompson and Donaldson can spell there if required. Maybe we could see Hurrell put a shift in there as well, think ultimately he will end up moving i to the pack at some point.

We can declare him marquee at any time in the future as long as we do not go over the total cap. If we do end up moving him onto marquee gives us £70k (if he us on £220k) to bring in 1-2 other players if required over the next 2 seasons. Makes sense to keep a marquee spit open in case real high quality player comes along mid season.

Ava has been allowed to look for a club back in Australia. If he finds a club he won’t be back.

His girlfriend wants him back in Australia to brink up their family together.

It must be an awful decision to have to make. He performed well last season, he was getting some great reviews, fans were talking highly of him, yet his girlfriend wants to stay in Australia and she wants him to be there.
He is in a no win situation, he has a job here for a few years, no guarantee of a top team at home and a girlfriend who wants him to stay with her. Let’s see what happens.

I will always bow to agar's and sinfield's superior knowledge, but I will be very worried if hurrell was an option in the second row.hall in the second row would've been even dafter in my opinion.

Agreed Sutcliffe should be used as cover for centre and back row.

I do believe that agar is genuinely interested in Sutcliffe being permanent centre and Hurrell in the second row
