I don't think pace is a problem for Walker he seems quick enough to me. I do have concerns his frame isn't strong enough to withstand the big hits of SL. Unfortunately he's going to miss most of preseason shoulder gym strength work. Let's hope he has a lot more luck next season.

Walker is class and will only get better. Give him time. Will be first choice FB for his country within 3 years imho.....

Walker is quality, needs to develop his passing game which i can see he is. He needs to stay healthy.

As for being the international full back the best young full back in this country is Jack Welsby. His issue is Coote is playing there at the moment for Saints. Welsby is outstanding though and will become GB/Eng full back for a long time i think.

We've been blessed with great full backs for a long time. Connolly did a great job then Mathers, Webb and Hardaker -world class. Walker also looks a high quality player but seems to take a lot of knocks. Some smaller framed guys seem to be made of rubber and just bounce up after massive hits. Walker isn't one of them. Adding more muscle bulk unnaturally (I obviously don't mean "illegally"icon_wink.gif may not help much.

If memory serves me Webb used to have injuries as well, didn't he have a back problem.

Yeah he missed the 2008 GF because of that, but Lee Smith did alright in his absence!

Yeah, he got a serious injury just before the GF in which Lee Smith deputised and won the man of the match (?). Webb wasn't the same after that. He lost his pace but still had a good pass in him (the occasional one may have drifted forward!).

Brent Webb was brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. Best full back ive seen at Headingley.

ET was very short term and his 2nd season at Leeds wasnt as good as his 1st. Outstanding player.

Yeah Iestyn at full back under Graham Murray was amazing. Truly great player.

Haha right angle sidestep that everyone knew was coming but nobody could stop. Great was Neil Hunt. Lets not leave out Marty Gurr here tho. He was excellent for a season he was with us.

Webb was pretty much at the top of his game when he signed for us too, a truly world class signing in every sense.

Plagued with bad shoulders playing for over 20 years wish I could have had surgery which was relatively simple on retirement just keyhole clearing out bits of bone debris . Never swing as axe as well as I did a week after the operation.

Walker is ahead of Welsby in his development imho. Welsby may not actually make it at Saints, as they are rumoured to be signing Evalds after he does his year of national service at Cas.....!

Granted Ive not seen a whole load of his games but is it only me who can't see what everyone is seeing in Welsby? He looks like a decentish player but that's it IMO. Now he may go on to be a great but Im just not seeing it yet.

Welsby looked superb at times in Academy games from what I saw. I don't know about his all-round game so much, but going forward a real handful.

Ive watched Welsby quite a lot in academy. Hes destroyed us a few times. Kid is pure class in my opinion. One of the best kids ive ever seen.

Fair enough, Academy doesn’t always translate into first team though.

Im not dissing the lad, Im sure hell fulfil his promise just from what I’ve seen I’m not seeing what the fuss is about.

I remember a game at Odsal that Marty ran 40 yards to stick a punch on Brendan Hill (?). Remember being both shocked and finding it hilarious as a kid. Think Marty might have been walked for that but don’t remember that but too well, it was 33 years ago...

Marty Gurr was a very decent player, we also signed an unknown young Centre/stand off Called Peter Jackson, who was Australian 6 a year after and gad a stellar career cut short by injury, and tragically killed himself after struggling to cope with the child abuse he suffered as a kid.
