Doesn't it depend on the balance of the team and what you want your props to do? We never had an "awesome foursome" like that huge Bradford side - and they steamrollered most sides most weeks. McDermott is a completely different player to Cuthbo, I'm not sure how you directly compare them. I'm not even sure Cuthbertson should be playing prop at all, but maybe I'm old-fashioned.

On his day Cuthbo can be a real asset, but the reason he is over here and not in NRL is because he is very much a Curate's egg, and there's some rubbish in his game too. Barrie was an enforcer who never took a backward step and intimidated the opposition. Far more direct and far more aggressive.

It is a team sport and it's the chemistry and balance of your players which makes a side effective or not. You need a JJB (or Glanville, who was a great player IMO) to tighten the middle and do the hard stuff for every showman. For the side we have today, a McDermott would be brilliant because we lack that direct aggression and whack in D for me.

Lets be honest if Cuthbo didn't have an Aussie Accent and had come through our system he wouldn't be getting half as much flack as he his at the moment.

He was still easily our top meter making forward and went blood to water against Wigan. He needs to cut out his errors but his form does not warrant being dropped over all.

If we'r being honest, that first sentence isnt correct. Its nothing to do with his accent or how he got to the club. Plenty of Academy products with Yorkshire accents have received plenty of flack over the years.

Much like Hurrell, some can forgive cuthbertsons daft errors because of the positives he offers, some cant excuse the errors regardless of what else he offers...I can see both sides, but with the 3 errrors against Wigan at 16-10, which went along way towards killing any momentum we had going, fresh in the memory, he was always going to stir the emotions...Aussie or not

I'd rather we didn't sign Thompson, but hey ho, so I'd rather A Sutcliffe made the 17.

At 35, I agree this should be Cuthbertson's last season.

However, having watched every game this season i can't agree that people can come to the conclusion he deserves to be dropped. 165m against Wigan and 20+ carries. Only big Mik got anywhere near that kind of effort in the forward pack. Yes, he made four errors but he was also the most likely forward to bust a tackle.

He makes my 17 still.

Sorry mate, Briscoe was Luke. I don’t want Liam Sutty anywhere near a 17, but he adds utility value. I don’t get what Leeming brings to be honest, not as good as Dwyer, but hopefully gets better.
