Walker no younger than Mags when he first played and shows the same potential need to give him a shot,Oledzki future star no doubts,play him.
Like Mcdermott to be honest not sure but he needs to have a clear out and give some of the youngsters a shot.

I think mac has run his course. done a brilliant job 90% of the time but a fresh voice and ideas are needed. won't happen though

No way I would have keinhorst on the wing he's an out and out centre, Briscoe will be with us next year and even if we do decide to move him on would should be signing a replacement not putting Keinhorst in there when he is more effective at centre.

Not sure our current senior players would be receptive. Appointing a new coach would only be a halfway measure IMO. I don't think the old guard are capable of adapting and changing any more. Same old mistakes and an inability to do anything other than work hard. We need substantial quantities of new blood on the playing side too.

yes. McGuire should go, burrow, I'm told, is a damn good coach so keep him. I'd have jjb doing the juniors, a bit of coaching but his influence as a guide to young players would be supurb

I agree that when the new coach does eventually come in, the old guard need to be or have been, fully swept aside for a clean slate and new ideas. Probably looking at roughly 3 seasons for that to happen.

You'll have a long hard season if that's the best 17 you'll have to put out.

Maybe, though there'll be sides that have longer and harder seasons by far. Hardly a ringing endorsement of SL's quality, is it?

Just be careful you don't clear the wrong ones out or they'll end up starring for Cas and coming back to haunt you.

Surely IF Magsy,Burrow and JJB are retiring and Sutty is off, there should be enough cash and cap space free to bring in more and better players than just Myler and Cahill???

Sutcliffe is still contracted for next season according to Sutcliffe.

We've got pretty ordinary halfbacks, and a really poor attacking structure full stop - Eden on his own has scored nearly as many tries as our entire 1-5 this year. That's not down to individuals out wide, its due to being clueless as a team about how to set up tries.

As for 'transition', that was what last year was supposed to be. This season is really where we should have been a year ago. As it is we've effectively lost a year. All we've seen is that our older players are not quite as dreadful as they looked last year, but its highly unlikely any of them will take us much further. A CC win this year would be nice, but would really cover up how ordinary we are.

Player for player we may look OK, but there's a staleness about everything, including a number of players. Our inability to get Hall over the line or get Watkins into space is just poor whatever the cause.

Not 1-17, no. Halves and fullback, yes. And that's no criticism of Moon. He's improved things in the halves a bit despite the fact he isn't one. This is itself an illustration of our problems in that regard.

I would agree with that generally and under the right coaching.

But flipping it currently, would Briscoe, Sutcliffe, McGuire, Galloway, Singleton, Ferres, JJB, Keinhorst, Walters, Handley, and Mullalley get anywhere near the Cas team? not a chance.

I'd move Burrow to be the head coach for the U16s and keep Morley as the head coach of U19s. McGuire has mentioned wanting to take on a developmental role in the past so I would make him a specialist halves and fullbacks coach working with both the U16s and U19s. Struggling to think of a role for JJB, his passion and determination is unquestionable but I'm not sure how best to utilise this.

The only player that worried me at the match was Moon, due to his elusive running. Watching it again on TV he didn't stand out.

You're right although he has been a fair bit better in most other games when he's been played in the halves. But really, it is only elusiveness he offers although I reckon he kicks better than McGuire, even if it isn't to a great standard. But a bit like Burrow, while he can produce the odd bit of magic he can't really run a game from start to finish in the way a good half would.

I think he's a cracking player, not natural HB though, as you say. More threatening in the centres given the right ball. I though Cas looked weak on the left without Shenton & I'm nervous of Eden's defence. Minikin looks like a lightweight version of Shenton & I thought Leeds would make more of that side, together with a suspect Hitchcox on the other wing.

Are we bringing a new rule in next season - 3 subs only. It appears that way as B McD is only using 3 and its not the first time this season!
