I think Alex Sutcliffe is out injured at the moment. We may have to draft a young back for Monday. Im suprised nobody is mentioning Harry Newman the lad is a quality prospect 6 foot centre and pacy. Maybe a possible wing spot as a one off if needed. He is one of our most promising youngsters.

Alex Sutcliffe would have been my obvious choice also. Even with him it does mean moving the team around a little. Hence the reason why I mentioned Jack Walker, another that's named in tomorrow's under 19s squad. Personally I'm expecting maybe three to drop out of that.

Would love to see Jack Walker get a start, he looks to have something about him.

With regards Jack, it would have to be some change from the coaches for him to get picked. They told him start of season that he would have to reach X KG's before he got a sniff of a chance at first team. He has been on a eating and weights splurge since to build up, but still not close to that weight.

I agree, skills should be more important, but that was the stance. Would be good if changed.

I actually agree with Marty Gurr above, but would also add Hartley to this, who is more comfortable on the wing and fullback.

Think we should do all we can to keep Moon in the halves. Might not be possible on Monday by the looks of things though, unless we have abit of a reshuffle and stick Ward at centre.

Its all well & good saying keep Moon in the Halves but the fact is we dont have that luxery so it'll either be Mags & Burrow or Mags & Lilley.

I wouldn't play ward centre, simply because of the extra running. just back from a hamstring injury and 2 games in 4 days?

I rate Walker highly hes got some class and he obviously needs to bulk up a bit but some of that will happen naturally. He is looking bigger than last year
Keidan Hartley is probably smaller than Jack both have played full back. I suspect there will be a bit of juggling and none of these kids will play actually.

Newman looks a good athlete to me. Hes a big fast strong kid hes a good prospect. If any of them are needed he would be best bet physically to stand up to the test.

Be interesting to see who drops out of 19s team today.

Moon to full back isn't a bad idea if both Golding and Sutcliffe are out. Is Hardaker still our player on loan? Could he be recalled for one game?

Talking of Introducing young lads into the team, just watched my recording of the Wigan Saints game. Grace the saints winger 20 years of age was sensational. Also the sending offf never a red card in my estimation. As several posters on here predicted since sutcliffe was poleaxed ,any shot remotely near the head would be marching orders.

I said yesterday that I spoke to McDermot before game and he said he was just using the nineteen over the Easter weekend, then changes for Doncaster game. Which was why I said usual Easter tactics.

However, I reckon that squad announcement was the plan before yesterday, and has just not being corrected, in view of how things panned out.

Yeah, seems strange naming Golding and Sutcliffe when apparently he's already said they're out. I take it the rules about naming your 19 aren't as strict as the rest of season. It's a tough job balancing getting the 2 points and not flogging players

Watkins and moon centres. or young Sutcliffe centre and moon full back. not sure who else in the U19's could step up.

Re earlier points from Marty gurr, I agree would be surprised if Hartley or Newman were played as in first year in the u19's, only 17.

Is Eddie's lad, Nathan waring still around or harry boyes must be 19 and further down the development track. Guess Ryan jones would have played if was still at Leeds.

If Golding and sutcliffe miss out

In the event of Sutcliffe and Golding being out i would keep our successful half back partnership unchanged for this one as they are the corner stone of our improved attack which is now scoring points and it would be silly to risk a return to the rudderless stuff that was the cause of our lack of attacking options previously. If injuries force us to select players out of position it would be better this happened in the centres where we should select players that can stop their opposite numbers as a priority eg Ward, C.Smith). Unless the U19's have a player that is ready to play FB at SL level then I would prefer Watkins to take over as his defence is good and he will have the space to join the attack.

We should not underestimate Widnes because of their league position and our attack is also our best form of defence and will give our tacklers a rest (against Warrington we made almost double the tackles as against Hull)

I would also think of giving Parcel and Cuthbertson some rest time on the bench if possible.

The 19s lost at Hudds 36-24. Mikolaj and Jack Walker was both named in team but neither played so potentially playing Monday. We shall see.

Hopefully. Would rather Walker plays than shuffling all over.

I would because we don't have much room to manoeuvre in reality and it we have to go makeshift in the backs then surely you try and keep your forwards strong to compensate?

I know Gotcha said other clubs wouldn't select in the same way over Easter......however most of those teams have a league game 4/5 days later against fellow SL teams and will have to be quite strong if they want the 2 points. We on the other hand have a game against lower league opposition at home where we can rest a lot of players and some guys can have like 10 day gap between the next league game. Even Salford and Leigh have tricky cup games so the only team really in the same boat as us is Huddersfield with their easy cup fixture and they'll be going as strong as possible over the 2 Easter league games because of their league position.
