Bit harsh on DC,but I'll raise you Chris Vasey for that one,ok not an overseas player but a far worse half back.
As for Rex Terp,from my memory was something of an ET looky likey without the moves.

Worst of any overseas player in the super league period was Brady Malham I though played? for Wigan.

It was Paul Groves that David Cruickshank nearly beheaded, though what followed from Leeds was unbelievable.......I think Phil Ford got a hat trick, and John Bentley got either 2 or 3 tries, that coming after his nightmare the week before at Warrington, which I can't think about without shuddering. I still remember the Wigan away game that season too with Colin Maskill's "in off both posts" conversion....what a season....so close, and so far.

I remember thinking the same about Rex Terp as Dwayne in the fact he looked like ET, however that's as close as he got to ET, I'm sure his first touch was a knock on under the posts.....then I never saw him again after that game.

IIRC Robin Dewhurst was the Leeds coach who gave him his one and only game after deciding 'he went well at training.' Never trusted that soundbite since.

Pretty sure it was Mal Reilly Brisbane.

laughtons best asset as a coach was a talent scout league and union, he also had great motivational skills, but lacked technical coach skills.

always felt sorry for Gallagher, remember him having s stormer against the 1990 kangaroos and looked world class, but as we no a spear tackle shattered his confidence and that was that. honestly believe laughton could have got the best out of him and brought him back through. but think dougie just wasn't interested in him.

roy powell. loved that guy as a kid. what a player, remember being about 12-13 or something and an opposition fan racially abusing him on the terrace, first time it actually occurred to me that Roy was black (i know obviously he was) but i just didn't care, just shows you that racism is an adult thing. shocked when he died, remember Jonathon Davies giving him a glowing tribute on his death about how he did everthyones ironing on tour as he was bored..

Best ever runaround play between Craig Coleman and Gary Divorty in those highlights. Coleman was such a good scrum half.

Yeah,when he recovered David Ward promised him at least 10 minutes in his return game off the bench.It would have guaranteed him a place in the GB squad that season.Ward never brought him on.

Vince Fawcett, there a player. 6'3" 15st centre /winger big stong athletic, but no skill or rugby brain whatsoever. would have fitted into the modern game well.

Thanks for the memories lads. I remember the 80s for always wondering what Aussie we were going to sign next and going along in high hopes...I guess the exchange rate must have been hugely favourable back then? Didn't we once have a full 1 to 13 Aussie team? (it felt like that at times from memory)

Trevor Patterson and Tony Currie produced the goods. The rest varied from reasonable to very poor in what was produced. Grothe was clearly a great player but not used properly.

I saw every game that season including away at Workington town with a crowd of less than 1,000, it may be lowest ever attendance for a competitive Leeds match. IIRC they were very unlucky to lose away at Hull KR in last game of year in premiership semi final.

Seem to recall the feeling of being short-changed when the teams were announced over the tinniest sounding PA system imaginable that Eric Grothe wasn't playing.

Me too. Wally Arnold. Paul Gill came out in the 2 shirt. There were some French fans who also travelled up from London to see Grothe. He was a bit of a legend after the French leg of the '82 tour.
