| Quote ="William Eve"I'd say that depends upon the degree of aggression and intent involved. There needs to be a common sense approach because it got ridiculous last season in the NRL.
Sam McKendry ended up with a one game ban for [url=http://www.dailymail.co.uk/video/sport/video-1284093/Panthers-prop-Sam-McKendry-latest-NRL-player-touch-referee.html[uTHIS[/u[/url... and Tyson Frizell one match ban for [url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_KHqMeSAuMw[uTHIS[/u[/url.
You might be getting mixed up with the Brent Webb incident just before? Bailey intentionally pushed Silverwood out of the way and admitted the offence and the club also backed the RFL over the three match ban.
There's a lot of pressure on refs not to send players off unless an offence is clear cut and there's no other option, hence why most are placed on report instead.'"
No I'm definitely thinking of the Bailey incident, not saying he didn't push the ref but that's because Silverwood trotted backwards into his way as the ball was being passed along the Warrington line. He got himself in an awful position whilst the ball was in play, very different to these other incidents that are after play has stopped.
That we are seeing more and more of these thing being placed on report I'd suggest dealing it with the current way is failing. Should at least start brandishing yellows. I'd rather see us take after RU where refs are rarely given sh*t rather than heading to the football route.
That the disciplinary keep finding these incidents worthy of bans but refs are doing nothing on the field is a failing. You can excuse them for placing certain tackles on report because they may not of seen them as clearly as they liked but these incidents are happening to them so no excuse.
As for the Hardaker one you brought up earlier, there's definitely no excuse for his none response there. No doubt of whether it was aggressive or not like contact. Should be clear cut, verbally abuse the ref, you're off.

My take on it is that we offered a little more attacking threat v Leigh than we did against Saints (first half at any rate) and I'd hope that improvement would continue against Salford. Defence-wise, I thought we were decent in both games. You're right in that we are currently way short of Wigan and Wire although both these targeted their WCCS games in a big way and may experience a flat period just as other teams start to hit their straps. I must be more optimistic (or perhaps more stupid) than most on these boards in that I feel we aren't a million miles away from beginning to hit some form.

Realistically though those 2 teams won't reach that level of performance too often during the regular season. In 2012 when we played Manly, if we performed like that more often we wouldn't have been lingering around 7th/8th for a while before finally having to come from 5th again. Also last the first half vs NQC was arguably our best 40 of the season given the opposition, if we came up with more of that last year we'd have made the top 8.
Like pointed out above they had months to target that game and let's not forget that Warrington lost the previous week vs Catalans and with Castleford to play this week there's a good chance they could start the season 0 from 2.
Leeds are still the only team to win the WCC at the start of the year and win the GF later in the same year.

good thing about that is a solid defense is a good foundation for attack, if we can keep a solid defense and sharpen up our attack then we are moving up. just to cut down and cheap handling eras will help to start with.

Having sorted both attack and defence from where they were last year at this very early stage of the season was probably a big ask. We're looking good on the defensive front and have clearly spent a lot of time on it, perhaps too much and not enough on attack.
If our attack does start clicking and producing it's going to look like us in 2015, not a structured style akin to Wigan or Saints. That play what you see style we produced in 2015 isn't easy and will take time to get back to, even in 2015 we only saw it in short bursts in games in the early part of the season. Whilst brief, that 10-15 minutes when we came from behind to take the lead vs Leigh looked more like the old version and what we want to do. Just have to produve it for longer in games. We are still getting to know our new hooker, our FB is inexperienced and McGuire is only just back in and will need march fitness so whilst the attack has been disappointing it has only been 2 games and patience may be needed.
Given the circumstances of what happened last year then getting League points early is important so wouldn't be surprised if they're taking a 'safe' approach early doors and trying to grind some wins out.

| Say what you like and it may be where we are but everyone knows that we need an organizer at either scrum half or stand off if we are going to compete for the top four . Wigan , Wire and Cas seem miles ahead of us at the moment

| Seems harsh on Carney to me.
I was kind of hoping JJB would be banned to force McDermott into changes. I'm not for one second saying JJB deserves dropping. For this week, I would go with:-
Golding
Briscoe Watkins Moon Hall
McGuire Burrow
Singleton Parcell Garbutt
Ormonroyd Ward
Sutcliffe
Cuthbertson Baldwinson Keinhorst Ablett (Rest JJB)
I would like to see Ormonroyd start. I think he could turn out to be a hidden gem and it would be nice for us to take an early look at him. I have not been too impressed with Briscoe either and would like to see Handley given some gametime but I am not convinced that will happen anytime soon.
Golding has been great defensively so far and hasn't made any mistakes but he currently offers nothing in attack. I would keep him at full back for the time being but I am still not convinced by him. His only potential replacement is Sutcliffe but i'd like to see Sutcliffe get some regular game time in at loose forward.

Not convinced by Sutcliffe being in the halves but now that McGuire is back lets finally see the combination that was planned for last year but we never really saw and see how they go. Still can't see him doing the 40 odd tackles in the middle as a loose forward, not without it having an effect on the running game people want to put him there for in the first place.
Briscoe needs a kick up the backside for me and Handley deserves a shot. Finding it harder and harder to leave Keinhorst out of a starting centre birth even when both the usual ones are fit.

FFS You, me and anyone else have no idea how Leeds will get on over the next 7 Months. It could be a good, bad or bl00dy awful season for us or you, depending on injuries and a thousand other factors including dumb luck. Top 4 is a possibility, though i suspect for most of us just avoiding middle 8's would be good progress.
Now I'm going to let it go this time, what with your lot doing SL proud over the weekend and all that. But don't come on here with your triumphalist BS, putting us down this early in the season again

Can you read & understand the context of what you're actually reading?
He clearly uses the 2015 ref wrt the style of our attacking play rather than anything structured not anywhere in that post does he say we'll be top 4 or even on the level of winning consistency of 2015.

Is it when I say it'll take time and patience is needed and point out the inexperience/fitness of our spine and I even say "IF" our attack clicks that makes it so obvious???
I think the 2015 attack will be the style we try to emulate, not sure how close we'll get yet.
