| Wigan in talks with Larne Patrick apparently, with the possibility of Scott Taylor going the other way. Two forwards that would have been great signings for us in the wake of jamie peacock and kylie Leuluai's retirement.
Also, hull KR close to agreeing a three year deal with shaun Lunt apparently.

Surely not?! Why would Huddersfield want rid? Why would Lunt choose HKR?!

| The way others are improving and we aren't means McDermott will really have to prove his coaching chops this year, something I have no confidence in whatsoever. I'll be happy to be proved wrong.

| I had a call yesterday from the ticket office regarding renewing my season ticket. I told her straight that the club has let us down big time with it's arrogance on team improvements, and unless there is a change in direction with that, and a change to their attitude generally in league games, then I would guess a lot of others would not renew. She did confirm that she had similar responses from other calls.

| Had the same call and gave them a similar reply - GH needs to get his act together, Daryl Clark should have been very high up his list, sadly I doubt he even made an enquiry.

He did actually make more than an enquiry, when Warrington tried to pull out of the deal they already had with Cas. However, common sense obviously got the better of Warrington when they realised exactly what they were getting.
If Larne Patrick is available though, Christ all mighty that would be unforgivable not to be trying on that one.

Gotcha why did Warrington try to pull out of the deal?
I thought it was Clark himself who said he would rather stay at Cas and Cas themselves tried to buy him out of the deal.

No Warrington were the ones who tried to come out of it, due to finances, and that came from someone high enough up at Cas. I guess seeing the real deal as it was this season, made them realise that they were actually getting some value.

| I'll say it again, if you don't like the product vote with your wallet. It's the only way to convince a sports club that anything needs to change.
If enough people keep paying over money regardless of whether they're happy with what they are getting in return, where's the incentive to change anything from GH's perspective?

Haha! Brilliant! Got to feel sorry for the people in the ticket office - polite (though over-keen) calls to prior commited season-ticket holders offering them a personal service and a call they don't even have to pay for to sign up there and then.
Instead, they get a tirade about stagnation and a lack of foresight coming from the top down and that this is why they are yet to renew; the deal being put forward does not match the product you demand as a buyer. The fact they said they have had several responses like that must make it unfortunate for them; on a hiding to nothing.
Get B McD and GH making some calls, so punters can 'have it out' directly with those more in a position to do something about it. Won't happen, but would be great if it did.

I wouldn't necessarily say it was a case of fans 'taking it out' on ticket office staff.
At the end of the day, this is what a sales and marketing process is. The sales staff are the ones with direct contact with the customer base and, hopefully, they will feedback to the business what that customer base is telling them. What the business choose to do with that feedback is up to them but, if the business is being run well, that feedback will form the basis of future decision making.
At the moment, what the club is offering isn't appealing to large sections of the customer base, and it is important that the club knows this.

Yeah, I understand this. Like any business I guess though, it is those on the front line who have to handle the dissatisfaction of the decisions made (or not) at the top.
I get it from members of the public a lot in one of my jobs, so I have some empathy for them. But I also know / understand as a buyer you are well within your rights and should explain why you aren't buying the product on offer; as you say it is the only way the product will be reviewed to make it more attractive to buyers going forward.

Why would them getting Patrick make a difference though? Mossop isn't due to come back anyway, and has no tie to Wigan.
Personally would rather have Patrick anyway.

| At the risk of being called a "believist", t or any number of other derogatory terms isn't the essence of being a fan that you support your club through thick & thin.
Witholding your support & money is it seems to me the start of a downward spiral that can end up with the club you allegedly support being relegated or going out of business.
Is that what people on here really want?

We have many fans on this very board, who do not pay to go watch the team, even though the same people try and argue everything is good.
The thing is though, even when we had our times of winning nothing, and some poor coaches also, we still at least showed ambition and the desire to improve, even if mistakes were made. The difference this time, is that the club is taking the fans for granted and acting with a degree of arrogance, even though the truth is every man and his dog with half a brain can see that as we stand, we regress simple as that.
If the game was free to watch, then your argument would be very accurate. But because we do pay, and a lot of money, the argument is completely none understandable. I was also a fan of my wifes previous car, but I got sick of chucking money at it to repair, are you saying I still should have kept it regardless?

You forgot "single celled organism"
I renewed my season ticket in August, ergo i'm a single celled organism. The fact I go to 90% of home games regardless, so will be saving a small wedge over the course of the year doesn't matter. No, I renewed a season ticket to watch the most successful club of the last decade, so i'm a div.
I didn't have a season ticket back in the glorious 80s, when our sole trophy win was the Yorkshire Cup, but like some on here I travelled home & away most weeks. I must've been completely brain dead back then

| Haven't bought a ST since 2004. Found turning 18 and Friday nights didnt mix well with availability to attend rugby matches (only attended 6 that year). Since then I get to 7/8 home games a year so pointless buying a ST, my attendance is based on if I'm free and not the opposition btw. Watched what was going to be a weakened team play Bradford but missed Wigan.
Btw I don't think all is good, or that we are improving. But that is something I'm looking at when I watch games. Where can we improve? Which young players will improve us moving along? Who isn't good enough? What are doing well in games, what are we doing bad? It's a continuous evolving journey properly supporting a team, not one you just think "I'll pick it up again in 4/5 years time when I hear they get good again".

| I held a season ticket between 1990 and 2006, and stopped due to moving to the SW. But even if I did still live close to Leeds, I have to say that I'm not sure whether or not I'd remain a season ticket holder.
The quality of the product simply isn't there on a regular basis - I'd probably pick and choose matches depending on the opposition. I admit that part of this is about supporting a winning team. After intense high-quality games against the top teams, I would rather take a 2005-style flat-track win by 50 points over the likes of Wakefield rather than watching a close, error-strewn loss against the same club. While one-sided games get boring after a while, the old days of regular cricket scores at least showcased the skill of our players and some fast-flowing rugby.
The lack of new investment in the team would definitely put me off after the way the 2014 season has ended. The club can't reveal all their plans for the year ahead but to an extent it has always been the case that new signings put bums on seats.
Not everyone has to subscribe to this view though. Indeed, enjoying a drink and fish & chips before the game with friends and family was worthwhile in itself, even if the product served up on the field was not always great - the disappointments of the early-mid 90s were still much worse than what we have to put up with now. The only difference is that our expectations are much higher, and that is difficult for the club to manage - as Bradford similarly struggled to retain support after the glory days came to an end.

| I had a season ticket at various stages since the 70s and only stopped when I moved here in 2010 and I would still get one now if I was back home.Because being retired now and time on my hands it would be something to do win or lose.I do agree with a lot of what has been said about recruitment though.I wonder what we will be saying on this subject this time next year?

| Haven't had a season ticket since 2006, having had one pretty much continually from 1983 up to that point.
Why? The lack of value it offers is one factor - two free games out of 13 IMO doesn't represent value, given that you're more than likely going to miss one or two games a season with other commitments anyway.
Travel was another, having moved to work in Shipley and then Pudsey I got fed up of having to go straight from work to games on a Friday night because I didn't have time to get home then back out again.
Thirdly, I just got a bit bored with the standard of entertainment on offer. 2004 was probably the zenith of my time watching Leeds. 2005 and 2006 in comparison were disappointments. So I started picking maybe three or four home games a year to go to, normally ones that weren't on Sky and have stuck with that ever since.
Do I care whether the team wins or loses? Yes. Do I feel I have some unwritten commitment that I have to keep putting my hand in my pocket every week just because I'm a Leeds fan? Do I heck.
If that somehow makes me "less" of a fan, despite spending a couple of decades following the team through some hideous performances and mediocre playing squads, then so be it.
