Regarding The Doctor, must be tough to look at the table and see his team currently level on points with Wakefield given all the work he's put in over the last 12 months and Wakey having to unload players.

| It is always disappointing to see a Leeds lad leave especially as someone like BJB who always gave a 100%. I expect his name to still be chanted by the southstand. I wish him the best and hope he keeps up his high level of play.

| Quote ="rhinoms"In all honesty I'm surprised it's taken this long to confirm it publically after all it was the obvious outcome when we signed Briscoe.

Perhaps hopeful he might force his way into a regular slot, even though it looked unlikely.
The final nail was probably when Moon missed a couple and Ward was given the centre spot over BJB. If he's not going to be given a chance at centre, or even left wing (don't think our first choice Briscoe should have to swap sides to accommodate the back-up winger) then it's really cut down his options/chances.

| An inevitable occurrence once Tom Briscoe was signed. I'm surprised it's taken so long for official confirmation though, given the number of contract extensions which have been announced via a drip-feed this season. BJB's was always conspicuous by its absence.

Agree I wholeheartedly agree... I think McDermott has done a pretty good job in his efforts to keep all backs sweet, but I agree BJB should just have been slotted in on the left wing on Hall's turn to be left out.
Using Ward at LC in preference to BJB was even more puzzling.....

Not really, I suppose until he'd signed (or agreed) to a deal with another club (which you'd have to presume he has) then their was nothing to announce as his future was still undecided.

TBH I really don't see BJB as a centre so again it would require moving someone and putting Bish at FB/RW. Possibly the plan pre season was Hardaker to switch to centre on occasions but given how he's playing you really don't want to move him away from FB.
He can consider himself extremely unlucky to be edged out of the starting line-up but ATEOTD most would agree we've ended up with a stronger back 5.

Said for a while my guess would be he'll be lining up in a Salford shirt next year, but if that's the case he'll have to do it on the wing with them signing Locke. Similarly the previously mentioned rumour to Warrington, Matty Russell if going well at FB for them so it would appear a wing spot only available.
In fact if it's a FB starting spot he wants it's hard to see him getting a gig at any of the better teams in the league ATM.'"
Depending on how many points Bradford get back. There might be another high quality FB back on the market. Salford are right down there and if they get all 6 points back Salford are in the middle of the relegation dogfight

| Could Giants sign him for full back for next season as Grix is out of contract?
Warrington recently gave Matty Russell a new deal
Hull gave Jamie Shaul a new deal
Salford have signed Kevin Locke
St Helens have Jonny Lomax on a long term deal
Catalans have Escare
Can't see him going to any of these
Wigan maybe if they don't give Bowen a new deal although they have ryan hampshire
Wakefield - maybe?
Hull KR - maybe?
Cas - Maybe?
Got to see Giants been a more appealing than these although Castleford are now playing really well

| Have been told that BJB is off to Wigan as replacement for Bowen....Fullback in waiting at the Warriors ,Ryan Hampshire has signed a 5 year deal to join Saints who have promised him the No6 shirt, which is his preferred position and the Warriors have agreed a deal to extend Blake Green's contract by 3 years.

Good luck to the lad if he is Wigan bound. A solid player. They will think that they have pulled off a coup no doubt ala Mark Calderwood; and as we know ultimately that saga ended in tears.

Good signing for them if true. Can see BJB being one of the rare players who we let go that bites us. But cannot be helped he has decided to go not Leeds giving him the boot and realistically too talented to be a bit part player.
Good luck to him

I was supprised at the time and felt the same, however have been happy with briscoe. Think we can afford to lose BJB. It's Watkins and Hardaker we really need to try and retain

| Wouldn't mind him at Hull on the left wing, if were are deffo signing SA for next season and moving Yeaman to back up then that would be a very tasty combination, sadly our owner is an idiot & showing he's a tight wad all mouth no action type and out coach hasn't got a 'scooby' so there's Zero chance of him coming to us..

And no disrespect to BJB, excellent player, but certainly not as good as Calderwood was on leaving us. Then again though I do think BJB is a little more grounded and interested in his own game.

Sorry but not a chance. Calderwood was the best winger I have seen at Leeds. He blew it though. Could have being an absolute legend. All his fault though.

Not for me. Yes he was good, but taking the whole package and all the problems he brings would prefer BJB in the team to calderwood

You can't slate Hall for defence just a few weeks ago and then say Cslderwood was the best winger you've seen at Leeds. He couldn't tackle for sh*t.

If the bit about Hampshire joining Saints turns out to be true then it'll be meltdown time on the Wigan board, I couldn't imagine a worse scenario !!!

I know you were late supporting Leeds, but unsure how late, and if later than his time. Calderwood was a brilliant defender, and no winger has come close to his kick chase pressure. Not sure where you get that about defence.
But anyway I simply gave my own opinion on the standing of BJB, and this thread is about him.
Edit: just looked back at his last season stats here. 154 tackles and 12 misses. Show me a winger who matches that. In comparison to Hall that you brought up, last season Hall did 75 tackles and 29 misses. The difference in the tackles is mainly down to the brilliant use of his fantastic kick chase.
