Just looked at that squad of 25, and I reckon that come 2017 season, just three years away, there will only be 7 definites still playing weekly in the 17, and possibly 2 others.

Hope the younger backup do come good, or a lot of money to be spent.

I looked at the 2009 squad and there are only 12 there now of that squad, so there is a turnover. The players that left included Webb, Senior, Donald, Smith, Ali, Buderus, Diskin, Burgess who all would have made the match day 17

Foster, Minns and Duckworth have joined London on loan.

Good experience for the three of them. Adversity will be character building.

I wouldn't be worried. He'll only last about 4 weeks. Standard.

So last season due to injuries we had to use Moore, Vickery, Baldwinson, McShane, Foster, Duckworth, Minns, and Keninhorst. All eight won't be playing for us next season.

We have added Briscoe and Aiton, and a dual reg from Hunselt who is out for most of this year.

Considering the missed matches for the likes of Kylie, Delaney, Bailey are only going to get worse, and we all I think agree we should not be flogging a 37 year old workhorse. We could end up considerably short for this coming season.

At least we will have experience for 2015, but the bad planning is starting to show a bit for this coming year.

Well a couple of pages back Frosties says that those on loan Foster, Minns, Duckworth, Keinhorst (and L.Briscoe) can be recalled if needed. Going by the London board they seem to be overloading on backs so doubt it'd be too hard to recall Duckworth and Minns.

McShane and Vickery have been replaced with better options in Aiton and T.Briscoe.

That leaves Moore, who people agreed over the previous season had been given games that Singleton should've had. Also Baldwinson who hardly played many minutes in his appearance and you could say we have Minchella still here (as well as a hopefully fit Stevie Ward).

Their was also 6 other players in the Boxing Day game that haven't made their debuts yet (similar to Sutcliffe, Foster, Baldwinson and Duckworth in last years game)......we could always try them or another Academy lad if need be.

As for knowing that injuries for Leuluai, Bailey and Delaney ARE going to get worst. No, you don't know that at all, it's a guess that may or may not come true.

I agree. And hopefully will be the case. However, it doesn't stop us being short as a squad currently looking at it. The likelyhood is that Mcdermott will first take the option of getting the most out of the tried and tested.




I think it is a very fair assumption. Let' see who is right. You will be perfectly free to pick me up on it if wrong later in the season.

I agree with your point to some extent but i am at least pleased these lads have been sent to SL clubs which will by far improve their chances of development as opposed to being shipped to Hunslet in a poor standard at C1 or being sat in the stands in case we suffer the injuries we had last year.10-20 games somewhere else in the same division is far more than they can expect to be given at Leeds this year.

As others have said, Stevie Ward returning will be like a new signing and other players like JJB,Achurch and Delaney should be fit and ready after missing large chunks of last year so opportunitys could be few and far between for these lads barring a freak run of injuries and we all pretty much know that a rotation policy is not something Mcdermott employs.

I can't even remember what he is like as a player even though i saw him when he played last season (i was still 'wet behind the ears' then).

It'll be nice to see / watch Stevie Ward the Rhinos player, rather than Stevie Ward the pop-singer, as 'South Stand Music' currently that is what first comes to mind when i see his name on here...

The loan players can be recalled at any time as long as they will be playing for the first team, according to GH in the YEP

It's been confirmed that all loan players to Wakefield and London can be recalled at any given point, providing they would be in first team action immediately.

I presume the rules have therefore changed? Have no reason to doubt you, but Hetherington was the man who completely misunderstood dual reg rules last season, and was making up his own statements along the way, only to be shown incorrect.
