so in a split second you think Hansen thought if i chuck my self into a tackle around his hips his legs will give out and he will be injured? Don't be stupid the only dirty ones throwing swinging arms around was warrington.

| Quote ="ThePrinter"I have no problem with the Harrison one, contact at the hip and attacker not wrapped up, it's when the guy is clearly stopped and held I don't like those. Cooper again tried the Westwood style punch towards the end.
I know many on here like him but seeing Tony Smith's smug cocky face lose has made my night. Said it all year that when his teams get into an arm wrestle and have to fight away from Plan A they struggle, whether it be Leeds or Wire.
Thought McIlorum should have got the MOM though.'"
My thoughts too.
McIlorum was superb.
Green played well but I think he got the sympathy (agenda) vote due to him overcoming the early injury and battling on... in the same way Sinfield did last year.

Nah not really fussed just stating who I thought was the best player. Tomkins went ok, took a very good catch off a bomb but Wire stopped him making the decisive breaks in attack by focusing hard to stop him. This probably lead to the right side having chances though, which Goulding finally took after a few missed opportunities.

| I think Hansen saw an opportunity to tackle a player who was still on play and did just that. Unfortunately his leg buckled under him. Players get injured through both legal and illegal tackles - that's contact sport. This was a legal tackle.

| Wigan were worthy winners (slightly different IMO from worthy Champions as continue to feel the club does not represent all that is good about RL). But the whole game lacked the quality I would expect from a Grand Final. Some really soft tries in there that would have left me mortified if I'd seen us do that in one of our finals.

What's not to like?
Plenty of young home grown players, play like an nrl team as opposed to leeds headless chicken approach.
They are a beacon of sporting perfection.

I didn't see it like that.
I thought Hansen saw the opportunity to "do" the Warrington player and he took the opportunity to do it as hard as he could.
I think the completion of the tackle was of little interest to Hansen. He went into the collision with the intent to hurt the player. And given he was pretty much going straight into the back of someone not expecting it IMO there was a serious danger of major injury.
Hansen's tackle may have been legal. The Wire incidents definitely were not legal. But IMO Hansen's was a great deal more of a *wrong* challenge than the Warrington players challenges.
I don't really have any sympathy for Warrington over it. Westwood's hit really was a c**** hit and the later one was a bad one too. But they were the kind of nonsense that often happens during tackles and most of the time doesn't get seen. Hansen's challenge was many times worse for me and no amount of "it was legal" comments is going to alter that.

| Westwood will go to Red Hall about his smack on Green, there's no doubt about that but if he picks up a ban, it'll just get served out in the pre-season friendlies - so what's the point?

| It shows that have a team full of old players has some issues - Wigan looked to have much more energy towards the end of the first half and early in the second. McDermott take note

And let's make no mistake about it either. Wire have lacked the mental toughness on the big day, throwing away winning leads in both grand finals. People will talk about the injuries but they had already gifted the momentum back to wigan before the injuries screwed them, at a time when they should have been putting the final nails in.
=#0000BF:ky3v1fedIt's strange considering smith manged to instill such mental toughness into such a young inexperienced team in 2004 who managed to overcome (at the time) grand final veterans bradford.
Not so strange when you consider Smith brought a young assistant coach with him to Leeds that had helped get Huddersfield promoted. I remember seeing Brian MacD's relationship with the players and being impressed at the time.

Agree - that will an issue for Leeds for the next two seasons at least - the squad has far to many sacred cows who are well the wrong side of 30. I fail to see how the club can prevent the likes of Peacock/Sinfield/Burrow/JJB still playing when they are 37/38 - that will be a massive issue. Loyalty is one thing but it cannot rule your decision-making.

Yes I do, both had pretty much the similar teams out last year. The older Leeds beat the younger Wigan.
It's cute how Wigan beating Warrington in a GF can somehow be turned into an example of what is wrong with Leeds.
The agenda needs pushing at all times it seems.

I was referring nothing to last nights game.
I simply stated a good young one beats a good old one.
I don't think last year that term could be used to some of Wigans players. Nor do I think it could be used in a couple of cases with Leeds players. Surprising what 12 months later is though.
The "good" is the key.
