| 4,800 tickets were sold by Leeds so unless 2,000 paid on the day then Leeds did not outnumber us, those that did come though helped to create a cracking atmosphere-which probably helped our players more than yours.
Some of your fans were most graceful in defeat after the game but was interesting to note the number of 'chavs' who were intent on baiting giants fans afterwards with their football fan mentality, chest thumping while chanting leeds and singing united songs at some of our lot.
Again, thanks for making it an excellent day for RL.

Sorry Loz mate but it's not.
Rugby League doesn't have a birthplace, it evolved. It's like asking where the first human was born.
Huddersfield may be classed as the birthplace of the Northern Union which evolved into Rugby League, but not specifically League itself.

| Well, I went because it was £8 a ticket or I wouldn't have. Whilst there I bought a pie, a pint and a double decker. Has Jerry Chicken considered my additional outlay?

| There is now a question about how many Leeds fans that were on Saturday, well my understanding according to tweets from the club, they had sold five thousand tickets by thursday, I also suspect many Leeds supporters brought them from the Fartown Club direct.
Fartown are a better run club than some, but they still need Mr Davy to keep them afloat which is sad, and my understanding is that they only own 20% share in the ground, football club 40% and the Council 40%.
The comment about if and when Leeds United are ever in the top flight again, are gates will fall is interesting. But wrong I think, last year on Easter Monday both clubs played at the same time at home, we got 16,000 gate they got 24,000.

| leeds had sold 4830 tickets, now unless another 3500 bought from the giants, why would they when they could buy from their own club,or paid on the day then I doubt there was many more than 5,000, certainly nowhere near the 7000 claimed on here.
like daz said, your support was welcomed at the stadium and around town all day.
fair play to you for turning up and boosting the crowd and help create a cracking atmosphere, even if you were pretty quiet for the most part

When considering any statistics its important to cast out any extreme activity that may otherwise skew the results of an averaging out exercise - I had already removed you yourself from the stats because of your need to feed in constant motion, you are like a Great White Shark at the food concession stands and like that shark has to stay in constant motion in order to breath I sincerely believe that if you ever stopped eating for five minutes then you would die.

I haven't consumed anything since 8.30.
Whilst i am not dead (obviously) I am not functioning well. Time to rectify this situation with a Chicken Tikka and Bhaji sandwich, crisps and chocolate bar. That should see to through to my mid afternoon snack.
None of my food purchases today should be factored into your considerations about the financial benefits of reduced ticket prices for Saturday's games, BTW.

Its going down on the spreadsheet page labelled "unforseen benefits" and will appear on the line "What better to spend the extra £12 in my pocket this morning?"

| 8 teams left, 1 from Yorkshire, but if a Hudds fan was doing the math he'd reckon his team would make up 60% of the total!!

We refuse to accept that Hull is part of Yorkshire - it's more like a parasite leaching from all the Yorkshirey goodness.
(Actually there are 3 teams from Yorkshire left in the competition)

| I also refuse to accept hull as part of Yorkshire - it's humberside.
I was referring to Sheffield. But then I suppose Huddersfield and Sheffield are actually one club .... So actually yeah- one team from Yorkshire!

| I know it's a long, long time ago, but...
15th. March 1953: 3rd. round Challenge Cup, Bradford N. v. Huddersfield, Odsal. Att. 69,128.
March 1953 (exact date not to hand): semi-final Challenge Cup, Huddersfield v Wigan, Odsal. Att. 88,000.
25th. April 1953: final Challenge Cup, Huddersfield v. St. Helens, Wembley. Att. 89,588.
I wonder how many other clubs have had a higher total attendance over 3 rounds of the cup (maybe leaving out of account the 1954 final replay).
To complete the picture the gates for Huddersfield's earlier rounds were:
1st. round, 1st leg: v. Castleford at Fartown: att. 14,598
" 2nd. leg: " Wheldon Rd.: att. 5,000
2nd. round: v. Barrow at Fartown: att. 25,608.
Thinking about it how many other clubs have had a higher total gates over a whole cup campaign? (Pity about the poor turn out at Cas..)
By the way St. Helens' aggregate attendance in the cup in that year, according to my calculations, was 231,000, compared to Fartown's (sorry, Huddersfield's) 292,000.
I realise of course that it's just one year and that the weather, quality of opponents etc. can affect gates, but I'd be interested to see how many times those figures have been bettered.
To change tack slightly, and forgive me if I missed it, but given the pretty detailed and learned discussion on aspects of macroeconomics on (I think) another thread I was surprised there was no application of one of the basic principles of microeconomics to the Giants' pricing policy for last Saturdays match - that is price elasticity of demand.

Humberside hasn't existed since 1996. The name only remains on the fire service, police and radio station
