| Disappointed we haven't signed him. He would have been worth a place in our 17 IMO.
Good luck to him at Wakey.

| Quote ="Clearwing"I think this sums it up. Decent player, easily good enough to make our squad, but at the end of the day a one-time world beating prop at the twilight of his career was still able outplay him.
My biggest worry isn't that we've lost Amor to Wakey, rather that our ambitions don't seem to extend to acquiring someone better.'"
The declining 34 year-old JP would have had a decent shot at outplaying the improving 24 year-old JP too. It was around then that he really kicked on.

I don't think you could put Singleton and Amor in that situation and expect to win games. Both are still very young (for props) and relatively inexperienced. You could play one, but not both - it would leave us too light up front, or our second row would be having to make up for it too much.

| Meh, Amor is a decent SL player who has had a decent season. Wont ever be international class, wont ever be Man of Steel.
He may be better than a couple of our rotation props, he isn’t better than Leuluai or Peacock even now, nor Griffin imo. Possibly better than Bailey, probably better than Moore and Kirke, not as good a prospect as Singleton.
We have better, there are better out there, the difference between us winning silverware and not isn’t going to be the difference between Amor and Bailey, Moore or Kirke, he isn’t going to be a pack leader, he isn’t going to be a frontline prop. He is a decent SL level player, that’s why he has gone to Wakefield, and not Wire, Wigan, Saints and why we have let him go.

Good point, although for every prop that does make that jump (and a few have done so tbf) there are plenty that don't. If, after two seasons, Amor is snapped up by a top SL club or gets a gig in the NRL I'll accept unreservedly we were wrong to let him go. My gut feeling is that he won't though.

Kylie's got another year?
That news had passed me by and I have to say I'm astounded. And there was me being sympathetic about him missing what I thought might be his last game through suspension.

| As a Wakefield fan I'm happy we got him.
Leeds and Wakefield are aiming for different things so I also understand why you think you can let him go.
However, I think the mistake is that those Peacock type players aren't out there any more. He may not have ended up your best but you already had him and he would have been one of the 4 in my opinion. So it's a mistake imho. He's not goingto come back and haunt you like if you'd let Burrow or Sinfield go but its an opportunity missed by you. Obviously if you have other young guns coming through you won't feel the pain in the end.
The fact that you signed Moore and Griffin who although good on their day will not be Jamie Peacock on their best day, shows how few top line props are out there. They were both great at Wakefield but are passed their best in my opinion.
I'd like Kirke as well if you are off loading. I know he's had some criticism but from what I've seen this season he looks a "decent SL prop" and we could do with him.

| Not as good as Peacock 2 years ago
Not as good as Peacock, or Leluai, or Griffin, or Bailey now.
That's the cruncher. If Kyle was happy to be a squad player on a lower salary getting a game every now and then at Leeds, he'd have taken it.
I'm gonna guess he wouldn't have been happy with that.
JP is still, at nearly 35, one of the top forwards in SL, doing pretty much 70 minutes a game. Maybe next year he will drop down to doing shorter spells off the bench, but either way, he still has what it takes to boss around 90% of the forwards in super league.

It could be argued that Carvell, Dowes were all gotten rid of by Leeds and have something that the current squad don't have at Leeds ... A cup winner's medal.
Then there's Iestyn or Adrian Morley

Although they've got some medals, I don't think that they are layers we necessarily kick ourselves for letting go. Also, for Morley & Harris we let them go because they wanted to further their personal ambitions, we didn't bin them off as we didn't think they were good enough

Yeah i'm sure Sinfield, McGuire, Burrow etc, really wish they could swap 5 GF rings, 3 WCC medals and 2 LLS for Ewan Dowes' glittering haul of honours.

| AMOR is comfortable at wakey, and appears not up for a challenge at the rhinos, he knows barring a massive form loss he is a certain in the seventeen each week, but imo it tells you about a players metality and toughness to pass by playing with a top club, shows a distinct lack of confidence in your own ability.
Good luck to the lad but for me a big opportunity passed up by kyle.

Maybe he wants to actually play rugby, we clearly were not too bothered if he came back to us or not (that's how I would have seen our decision in June). Just look at how some of our current players have been treated and underused.
Personally I would rather play somewhere I feel wanted than warm the bench at a big club

| The whole situation is a bit funny to me. I think there's more to it than it looks. Why would there be a contract on the table from Leeds and presumably salary cap space allocated if Leeds weren't that fussed.

Griffin is a bone idle lazy prop I do not see how he gets a game at Leeds over Richard Moore who is also average Bailey is a complete liability and Peacock and Leuluai are past their best
Amor is young and will become a far better player than most of the above maybe better than Peacock admitted he as a way to go but age is on his side

Or maybe Leeds have d!cked him around for two years and he recognises that he's improved massively at Wakefield in an environment where he's happier than he's ever been before?

| He's average and is obviously happy being an average fish in an average pond. Signing for Wakefield means he's given up any chance of ever winning anything other than man of the match in his career.
He couldnt get a game in an average Leeds front row so obviously isnt that good.
No loss at all IMO.

Apart from the fact that he was a 21/22 year old just stepping up from Championship rugby with Whitehaven, where was Jamie Peacock at 21 years old?
The way Wakefield are going they very well may be challenging for things over the next few years
