| If one of the incumbent halves had to go, it wouldn't be the one that can win games with his goal kicking and at least appreciates that his team mates are allowed to touch the ball occasionally.

| Quote ="leeds owl"I'd say Hardaker and Ben Jones were the standouts tonight. Zak looked comfortable under the high balls he had to take and looked menacing attacking from FB while Ben Jones had a good game and made good ground out of defence as well as a great hat trick. Sadly our forwards seemed to be going backwards in the 1st half and the tries we scored were individual brilliance rather than scoring off pressure our forwards had exerted on Wakey. I'd say Amor would command a shirt every week in our pack based on tonight but that's not really hard to achieve at the moment. I'm just happy with the two points TBH but most of our games ahead that are classed as "four pointers" we will struggle to win based on tonight and our season overall.'"
Agree regarding Amor. Is this the last year of his contract with us. If it is not sure we will see him at Leeds next year. I know we have option on him, but if I was in his position looking at how little chance people are given and how little chance he has been given at Leeds I would stay at wakey or at least a team where you actually get a game.
He is alot better than most of our forwards and I would like to see him at leeds

From what I can remember Amor has another two years at Wakey after this season if Leeds don't trigger the recall clause which has to be effected by the end of July. If they do recall him he then serves the two years with us. Whether he would want to come back is a different kettle of fish.

| Sounds almost as horrendous a game as the 46-46 draw with Sheffield - forwards from both sides not wanting a bar of any physical confrontation.
At least Leeds had the - p*ss weak - excuse against Sheffield that they were soon going to play at Wembley and nobody wanted to get injured.

| Amor was the best Leeds prop on the pitch. He made 5 carries, sorry 5 quality carries, in Wakey's first 4 sets. He also put Kylie on his bottom.
It seems Lunt was brought on loan to play in the back row. Burrow remained at 9 the whole game whilst the other halves were terrible, McGuire in particular failing even on the flat track this time. Sinfield actually looked better the few times he jumped out of dummy half. Maybe McDermott can throw Sinfield into there for a few minutes.
The structures, selections and tactics are all over the place. Bizarre. He brought Lunt on with 3 mins left in the 1st half. Tactical genius.
The decision to release Ali and retain players like Hauraki and Delaney in his stead looks, with hindsight, to be silly. Good to see the old thoroughbred show some of our donkeys how a dangerous back rower should be.

| Again our esteemed coach showed the tactical nous of a Greek chancellor and is worth a lot less imo.
of course though he's got his "get out of jail for been sh## card to play because we had players doubling up from saturday".
Amor is a must to re-sign Hardaker at FB looked very comfortable as did Bjb staying on the wing.
I agree to a point re-Mags but how many times when he had the ball did he have runners and other options??
Once again our Captain and leader is shown to be defensively frail outwide but that's not a coaching issue according to GH!!
The highlight for me was seeing Ali back in action at HQ and thinking WHO was supposed to be his replacement/??
I actually think it may have done us better to lose tonight especially long term because this cull that has been muted can't come soon enough imo but i think the coaches could/should be on that list.

Cant help thinking Karma has come into play here with two wildly forward passes for wakeys last two tries, dont think agar can really complain too much on reflection.
The one eyed cock end and his linesman (Child) made two howlers for the tries.
Im not worried in the least

...because we never score tries from forward passes, do we!
Anyway, iv been in the air between 3 and 12 today but the first thing that I thought when I saw the scoreline was, "what a s*** game that must have been!"
I hate games where no one wants to defend. You may as well go watch the u'11s on a Saturday morning. These guys are professionals and to concede 40 and still will is unforgivable.

| I tend to agree with rhinoms - a loss against Wakey may have been painful, but also may have helped accelerate changes. As it is, chances are BM will now continue to pick the same players until at least the cup semi-final.
IMO he missed a golden opportunity to try out some of the younger lads against Wakey - had we lost he had a ready-made excuse with half a team out, and lets be honest, if we're relying on a win against Wakey to qualify for the play-offs we'll do sweet FA when we get there anyway.

| Peacock said he was 'running on empty'. Which just about summed up the team's performance. OK we won and got the 2 points which were badly needed but tonight was the perfect opportuniity to give some of the young lads a chance to show what they are made of. Missed the boat Mac.

| Sinfield was no better defensively in the second half when he played in the middle channel, with Burrow and McGuire defending out wide between the centres and wingers.
Leeds had all their size that would normally have been in the middle playing out wide, which meant some of the smaller players needed to play in the middle. It also meant those who didn't play on Saturday needed to put their hands up and make an extra effort to take more of the workload, in which they failed spectacularly.
I genuinely don't see what Bailey currently offers either at prop or loose forward that Singleton or even Kirke wouldn't. He was absolutely anonymous last night and I can't recall him winning a single collision. The myth about him playing better when his contract is up for renewal seems to have been well and truly shattered, and it's time he saw the exit signs.
The decision on who backed up and who didn't should have been taken out of the players hands IMO. As it was, the likes of Burrow and Ablett didn't seem to show too many signs of fatigue so were probably ok to play. The same can't be said for some of the others. What the situation needed was a coach with the balls to leave players out even if they did put their hands up, and a CEO who would be prepared to back him even if it lead to a defeat. I'm not sure the former believes the latter would happen.

| I can see that the Wakey game came at the wrong time. After a few batterings it was important that we got the win to get dome confidence. However a few years ago we were strong enough to win with our academy how times have changed. The fact that fringe players were ignored in favour of playes who had played a couple of days earlier was barmy. Shows how desperate McDermott is really

I think that's a fair summary. He knows that if he didn't snap that run of defeats pretty soon then the noises coming from the fans would make his position untenable and leave Hetherington with no option but to show him the door. Despite what the CEO might have said in the press, it's cheaper and easier to sack a coach rather than try to move on a body of underperforming players.
As a result, he's picking what he considers to be his strongest team week in, week out irrespective of the consequences in terms of player fatigue.

| What riles me is McDermotts failure to acknowledge the p!ss poor performance the team has just put in.
Its just nonsense about him having a sense of relief in the circumstances of players having to back up....well why on earth didn't he use his full squad? Kirke, Smith, Moore...People are not fond of those three on here but McDermott cannot play the fatigue card if he does not use 3 of his established squad members.

Agreed, and I will go back to what I have said for a while, I would love to see Hall tried out in the backrow. When he came in looking for work in the middle he looked a line breaker all the way, something we don't have there at the moment.
And Fatboy, Amor looked very good for first 10 or 12 mins of game, then got smashed by Kylie and looked as bad as the rest of the Leeds props. Raleigh looked by far the best prop on the pitch.
Tim Smith and Aiton though didn't half show how far behind our side as dropped tonight, by far the best players on the park.
